Having lived in Rutland my entire life, I feel somewhat embarrassed I only visited this establishment this week for the first time! It is a beautiful little pub/ restaurant near Rutland Water, seemingly very popular with cyclists taking on the 'around the rezzy' trail. A perfect pit stop for food and drink with a lovely seating area outside and really... More

Enjoyed a family meal on Easter Sunday here. Most items on the menu were around the 'traditional roast dinner'. Service was good (we had booked a table in advance) and the food portions excellent and quality good as well. The pub itself is a fair way outside Oakham in a sleepy hamlet. There is also a campsite alongside the car... More

Chose the Horse and Jockey as a central location to meet with friends. The pub is nice, with a pleasant ambience and helpful friendly staff, however my wife and I were quite disappointed with our food. We both took our choices from the specials board and both meals were quite disappointing. My wife's meal was a little dry and not... More

My wife and I enjoyed lunch here yesterday. The pub's in a quaint setting, with decent parking. Staff were friendly and welcoming and we enjoying sharing a baguette and bowl of chips along with a pint of real ale and half a cider (hers, not mine!!). Would return - thank you.

Had two great evening meals here. Friendly service providing great food complimented by excellent local ales Menu well balanced and even then the chef made up a special dinner for a friend who had fancied something from the previous nights menu. Top job.

My Husband and I booked in for dinner last night and was very excited about trying the Steak and Ale Pie we arrived at 7.45pm My starter of Mushrooms and Spinach in Gorgonzola sauce was lovely but when our pie came it was covered in Thick Globby very dark gravy on the plate and also a jug of gravy on... Welcome to Trip Advisor. Thank you for taking the time to give us a review, I am delighted you loved your gorgonzola mushrooms. Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch in the sun! Had goats cheese for starter and veggie sausages with mash and veg for main course! My family seemed to enjoy the pork! Shame about the smokers, maybe have a designated smoking area? Didn't enjoy the taste of it whilst eating! Other than that, faultless! Highly recommended! Will be pleased to come here... More

Great food and really nice atmosphere well with a visit. Fab log burner in winter and plenty of outdoor seating in summer.
