Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The parking lot was full of broken glass. Bad start (pic attached). The place was warm and a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly. The food was very poor for a restaurant. Overpriced for the quality and amount received. My medium cooked steak was nice but...overcooked. The chips were overcooked and greasy, as were the onion rings. The ribs were just dry, tasteless, and meatless. The kids' pasta dish was long stringed spaghetti and not shell pasta. No steak knives or finger bowls given. There must be a basic pub cook and not a chef in their kitchen. I can still taste the grease from the chips and onion rings on my pallet. I will give this place a wide birth from now on. Bettystown and Southgate, etc, have places up the road to eat. Did I mention the broken glass in the car park!More

We were visiting family and took them out for a Saturday night dinner. From the welcome we received to the table service it was excellent. The Food was very good , especially the Linguine pasta that I had and there was a good choice of...specials, we finished with a lovely Irish coffee. Would recommend it for an evening out.More

Second time we visited and was hoping it would be better than the first but again we were disappointed. Service started as excellent and we went for the “Specials” thinking it would be a safer bet. Pasta with chicken in a vodka sauce and Sea...Bass. Sea Bass was okay, pasta was cooked okay but could have been from Tesco for all I knew as the dish lacked chicken and flavour. Plates were still left on the table a half an hour after we finished as the young staff seemed to be under pressure. It is not a Gastro Pub by any means. It is a local business and we will return and hopefully it will find itself in a better place when we do !More

We used to quite like the Lime Kiln pre-pandemic and so decided to go back for lunch for my partner's birthday last Saturday. We booked a table for 1.45, but when we got to the restaurant the door was locked. The lights were on inside...and a couple of people were waiting on the benches outside. We went and had a look round their shop next door, where the woman at the till assured us that the restaurant should be open now. So we went back, tried the door again, rattled and knocked on the door, but it remained closed. We waited a little longer and finally left at 1 pm. The other people had left by this time as well. We were very angry and disappointed. Maybe the restaurant is doing so well that they didn't need our custom. Would have been nice, though, to let us know, if they were not opening that lunchtime as they had our email and phone number. We certainly won't be darkening their door ever again.More

We visited before and after Christmas with family. A warm welcome and excellent service greeted us. Lovely atmosphere and plenty of space even though it was full. Food is very good and a good variety too. Credit to the waitresses who do a great job.

We hadn’t been to the limekiln in a while and decided to visit after sitting for 12 minutes we left totally ignored by a manager that was moving tables nearby rude service. What has happened to (can I help you) if you are looking for...food in a reasonable time this from our experience today is not the place to go. Recognizing people is a basic understanding of customer service is that too much to ask!More

Food and service were good. Couldn’t believe it when the staff told me they hadn’t got Sky sports when I requested if they could put on the football in the bar. Only pub I know around the place that don’t have it.

The food was incredible and the staff were lovely, except one person. The manager, who was dark haired was very rude and short with us. It felt like she didn’t want us there and when we arrived it wasn’t busy so she had no reason...not to be properly accommodating. Had a great overall experience but the manager did put a damper on the evening to an extent as we didn’t feel welcome when she was around. Also I’ve had many friends who also went and had the same things to say about their experience as us.More

We visited the beach and saw this pub after. We decided to eat here as it looks lovely. The inside is well decorated and staff were attentive... at first. We ordered the chicken wings to start. 2 portions to share between 5 of us. Unfortunately...they were not cooked through, we had to send them back. The waitress then told us the chef said they were cooked properly, they were just pink and red. Ridiculous! If they're still pink and red they are not done. 3 of our party had eaten one each before we realised. All 3 had dodgy tummies after. Then we waited for the kids meals, sausage, mash and gravy. The kids had finished by the time the gravy arrived. (They also charged for gravy!) Then we waited and waited and waited for 2 x adults meals. Very simple fish and chips. We hated asking as we had already had issues with the chicken wings, but we had to or we'd still be sitting there waiting now!! Eventually they arrived and were very underwhelming. Overall, a very poor experience. They also charged us for the chicken wings we sent back. Needless to say we didn't pay for them. There doesn't appear to be any staff management in place. No one is assigned to any particular table/section. All very loose. It's a shame as it could be lovely if ran properly.More

What a fantastic place for an evening meal. This place has a great atmosphere and is a service centric restaurant. Food is amazing, deserts a must and the staff are just brilliant. The decor is fresh and well laid out. I was at this place...over 5 years ago and I can say the new owners (new for me) have taken this place from old to new. Highly recommend this restaurant.More

We booked a table online for 5 and looked forward to a family dinner here. As usual the service is excellent and the food top notch, reasonably priced too. Extremely busy at the time we booked, a Saturday evening at 6.45. Only fault was a...large group of 20 ish men arrived and were seated beside us, normally that's fine and great to see, but the language used very loudly and subjects spoken about were embarrassing for our family especially my wife. I spoke to one of the supervisors on the way out, he couldn't apologise enough to be honest. We will be back of course and look forward to it.More
