So named after the WW I poet Seigfried Sassoon who lived in the village. The Poet has a great menu and is not expensive. There are 20+ guns to choose from. The service was friendly. I highly recommend this country pub. I look forward to...More

Pleasant greeting on arrival. Excellent service from two waiters who served our table. I asked a waitress to please turn down the intrusive background music. She grudgingly agreed to do this, but made a point of saying that she would have to turn it up...More

Lunch today for my son's 18th birthday. Simply beautiful food, really good choice of drinks and such welcoming staff. We're going back for Sunday roast (again) next week. Well done to the whole team!

Our first time visit to The Poet was with 3 of my family members and my boyfriend for my birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. Tomato gazpacho had a heavy taste of onion and garlic that lingered a bit too long. As a pre to...More

I'd call and ask Andy the proprietor - he's always very helpful and with sufficient notice would accommodate your request I'm sure. It's fabulous food in a lovely country setting - you'll not be disappointed. Lindsay.
