Just had a fantastic visit to The Poet. Food was delicious and so beautifully presented. Staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations. It was my partner's birthday and he left feeling very spoilt so thank you very much!

I booked the Poet after reading good reviews, for my daughters 21st Birthday and what a good choice. There are so many adjectives I could use to describe our evening and would probably run out of characters allowed (if that's possible) before I would run out of words! But to try and sum it up in one new word, It... More

We booked at the poet based on the reviews in this site and we were not disappointed! A surprise chef's compliment pulled pork ball followed by a wonderful 3 course meal. We spent just under £100 for 2 for all food and drinks. The portion sizes are perfect. Not too big, not too small. One to remember!

Been to this fabulous restuarant a number of times now and have not been disappointed on any course I have eaten!! Amazing food combinations, awesome presentation and perfect quantities. The staff are a pleasure and a credit to this warm, friendly place. I've eaten in many Michelin Starred restaurants and this should have one!!

As gastro pubs go, this one takes some beating. Our waitress was bright and charming - and the gin of the day was delicious! The food was both exquisitely presented and tasty with unusual and interesting flavour combinations. One of my companions was seriously contemplating having the tuna starter again for dessert, she enjoyed it so much. A cheese plate... More

This place needs to make up its mind whether it's a pub or a restaurant. We came here for a birthday treat expecting a fine restaurant. We walked in to six men sitting at the bar plus a few others so it was difficult to get to the bar to announce our arrival. We were then served and took our... More

The Poet in Matfield has changed hands and the new owners are doing a fabulous job. The Chef and part owner of the business is a real cut above the rest and is serving really delicious, interesting food at a very reasonable price. His attention to detail is great and you can tell that he really cares that his customers... More

Was looking through Trip Advisor. Found this and booked for lunch. What a surprise and pleasure! The food was so beautifully presented at each course and a pleasure to eat. The wine list was excellent and the gin selection was amazing. We had the Rock Rose gin. The service was impeccable - the waitresses were knowledgable and after the meal... More
