How is Rantasipi Aulanko rated?

We had visited of course daily while at the hotel for our breakfast and that was great. Nice selection and had enough each morning to get me on my way happily. However, my headline refers to when myself and my wife had dinner there. On...a tight budget we were not keen on the buffet at 35 euros a head but also, we were not too hungry either. So, the reason I say "not really spoilt for choice" is because the menu was very, very limited. Which was slightly annoying. It was like it or lump it in a way. The food we received wasn't bad at all, but also wasn't the best I've tried. The staff were lovely. That's one thing that was top mark! Seems to be a recurring trend in Hämeenlinna. Bar Portugal, I've never met so many friendly and helpful staff. We do not get this so much in Helsinki. The views from the window are beautiful and was lucky enough to see them each morning at breakfast 😀More

Disappointing room

We had anniversary. We got room floor -2. It was separated from normal rooms. Price was high. No minibar, no balcony, no airconditioning, no champagne glasses, no Hair dryer. Pillow was as stone. Under the bed there was ton of dust. But Bottle of prosecco...was only 26€, points for that 🥳 But the main thing was that my man was all mine and We had funky and steamy evening 🥰 The spa is great with kids but not romantic place. Nice outdoor pool and nice three sauna. Breakfest was Ok, fresh bread, natural yogurt and berries, all basic staf 🤷‍♀️ But i loved the amount of activities, tennis, golf, nature, so maybe We try again someday with kids 😀More

Worst burger I've ever tried

We ordered 2 black Angus beef burgers. They use frozen ready-made, completely processed hamburger patties and it was inedible. I complained to the waiter and we got one of the burgers for free but had to pay the other one.

Enjoyable dinner

While staying at the hotel, we had dinner at this historic restaurant from 1938. Some of the old-time charm is still left. We got a nice window table with lake views. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was tasty. My steak was medium-well...like ordered. Not medium as I usually get. We continued our dinner experience on the terrace. It was the first summer evening in Finland and the temperature was very pleasant.More

Good food, expensive water

I was kind of shocked that two glasses of carbonated water cost 9,40 €!!! In Finland this is extraordinarily expensive. If I knew this, I would have chosen anything else... not happy. The food was good and not too expensive, service was also good at...our late dinner.More

Average dinner

This is now a Scandic restaurant. It is located in a historic hotel from 1938 and has some of the old-time charm left. The service was friendly but the food could have been better. Our steaks were not medium as ordered but well-done and the...side potatoes had a historic appearance.More

Fresh and tasty

Super nice surroundings!

Aulanko is one of the most beautiful locations in Finland in the summer. Hotel itself is a bit outdated but clean. Nice thing is that you can utilise the spa already before check in time and also few hours after check out time, just ask...from the receptionist for a place for your luggage. Restaurant offers really one of the best buffet lunches ever.More

A perfect example of terrible service. True one star experience

This place has a wonderful location but that is not good enough reason to go there. We went in, were not noticed by the waitresses, were waiting and waiting.... went to pick the menus ourselves and heard that they will not serve the tables on...the terrace but we would need to order at the bar. At the same time they did serve some other tables. We walked out and will never return again. My advice for others is not to go either. You do not want to spend your money in a place where they totally disrespect their clients.More
