Had dinner here after a nice afternoon swimming at Coogee. Informal and laid back dining. We ordered the traditional fish & chips. The fish was perfectly cooked - crispy and not at all greasy. Chips were great too. Would have been nice if they had...More

Great concept - point at your fish (from marinated John Dory, garlic prawns to fresh barramundi), choose your way of cooking (grilled or fried), add bok choy and chips and drink your byo. Delicious, good value and informal.

You can have a healthy lunch here around $15-20. Ask for grilled fish. We went as a family, and ordered different fish. Everyone enjoyed his/her lunch. The best choice near Coogee beach I believe.

Battered fish was tasty and freshly prepared, and we had chips with both pieces of fish. For us there were more than enough chips, so if we go back, maybe a single portion of chips would be sufficient.

This was our first time eating here... all I can say is wow the tuna is well worth the $$$. The chips were fresh and the bbq corn was delicious!

Was much better than it looked actually. Cooked my fish fresh and it was beautiful. Served it with pak choi (highly recommend). I ate in one time and Aldo did take away - both very nice! You're welcome!

Fresh fish marinated. Bok choy with sauce... And some chips. It was delicious. The restaurant opened when I lived in Coogee 17 years ago. Still going strong. Gotta say something about the place!

Normally when you go into a fish a chips shop, you'd expect battered fish and chips. At "A Fish Called Coogee", they have all the fresh seafood marinated in their counter uncooked so that they can cook to order. They serve sides like bok choy...More

Great fresh fish. Chosen by you and you pay by the weight. Amazing fish and flavor options. I suggest takeaway and eating it on the grass by the beach. Definitely a locals favourite

Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the
smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi
Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs
that does not have big waves, making it an excellent
family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right
across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens
in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night
of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity
