Outstanding food and fresh fish! We had a dozen Bluff oysters, the tuna and the chili-lime dory. They charge based on weight and grill the fish to order. The smells were delicious and so was the food! Even the salad was good, mixed greens, sundried tomatoes, feta and cucumber. Best of all we grabbed a bottle of local vino from... More

Great basic serve of fish and chips. For all else don't bother, go to a restaurant instead. Same price, or cheaper, and you won't have to bother cramming in to the small place. We got stung with a $75 bill for a few bits and pieces out of the displays. But can't beat their basic fish and chips. Awesome stuff.

Local small fish restaurant. Bench seating indoors or out. I love this place for its fresh fish, seafood and salad. Always Fast and fresh. Can be busy

The best grilled salmon is usually found in Canada. The second best, Coogee. Easy dinner for three on a Thursday night and the fish was delicious. Friendly and weirdly funny chef. Unpretentious set up with lots of take away customers too. Deliciously healthy vegetables too ( if you're into that sort of thing)!

Finding a fish and chip shop open in the day is a rarity these days as they become more unpolitical correct food to eat these day but they were once the main stay of many family's trying to survive . This place has every form of cooking equipment you can name salamander grills , hot plates, deep fryers , flame... More

Great fresh fish cooked on grill in front of clients Good rice, vegetable and chip sides. Prices very reasonable by Coogee excessive standards. Shame tables and chairs uncomfortable and so few and not cleaned enough. Spoils the experience.

It is a small shop 200m or so from the Coogee beach. We ordered fish and chips, plus battered prawns. Both fresh and fried to perfection, crisp outside and moist inside. Seasoning was also good, specially for the prawns. The atmosphere is laid back, beach life, of sorts - the tables and floor of the customer space could be a... More

It's very expensive for what it is, essentially take away fish n chips. Particularly when the whole place needs a clean, there were flies around the fish, our plates were left on the counter and the food was average.

As locals we grab dinner from here a couple of times every month. We love to order take away and then wander down and eat at the beach when the weather is nice. It's also great to pop in for a healthy takeaway option for dinner on the way home from work. The food is always fresh and delicious but... More

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
