My birthday is on ANZAC Day, when many nice restaurants, (for some inexplicable reason) are closed. We have been to this restaurant many times, but this was definitely a step up. Our charming waitperson told us there is a new team in the kitchen, and a new menu is coming soon. There was a real spring in their step. The... More

My wife and I had made a booking for the restaurant and when we arrived the waitress offered a confusing alternative to choose between either the restaurant or some other menus which would require NOT sitting in the restaurant but it was up to us? Weird!! Anyway once we established that we had booked the restaurant and that we wanted... More

We had a really nice dinner here; the restaurant was well laid out, food was very good and wine was lovely. We had the soft shell crab and the Royal Oak supreme pizza - very good sized portions and tasty.

We had an early visit on Good Friday before the restaurant got busy. The service and food was as exceptional as on previous visits. I always look forward to dinner at 221.

We had booked for 7.00 pm on Saturday night. We arrived at 7.05. The hostess pointed to a table and said that is where you will be seated. So we took ourselves over to table. Then another young lady throw napkins on our laps and poured us water. the other 2 in our party turned up at 7.15. We had... More

Visited on Easter weekend so understand busier than usual but it was obvious. Took a while to be served drinks and while in your average pub that would not be a problem the expectation and price point here creates a higher expectation. Entrees for our group of 6 were fabulous and served quickly but mains were a let down for... More

Hi, I had an experience at 221 Resturant tonight and I would like to tell you how truely aweful it was. We came in on Friday to eat at the restaurant, and we were told that you were fully booked; and that was fine and we understood and made a reservation for Saturday night. We arrived on Saturday night; and... More

For a pub restaurant this was very good. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff & good food. Prices are on the high side for a pub but worth it.

We were recommended to try 221 Restaurant & Bar for dinner from our host at Cessnock Motel and were not disappointed at all! 221 Restaurant & Bar have a courtesy bus service that is fantastic. We chose the $65 three course dinner and were not disappointed. Beautiful scallops on pork belly, tender lamb with polenta chips and semifreddo to finish... More

Sometimes the unexpected confronts you and comes as a shock. This restaurant was one of those times. We walked into the pub from the usual country style street exterior, through the bar area and then were suddenly surprised by the sight of pure white linen with silver cutlery in a room that transported me back to many years ago in...
