This was always our favorite nelson bar but the last few times i have been i felt the food was way too spicy and hot. The farm to plate beetroot was so spicy i couldn't eat it. This is a shame as I am put...off going back. Nothing needs to be that hot especially not sweet beetroot!More
The food was outstanding! But it was let down with music that was far too loud. It felt like we were in a nightclub and it was only 7pm. We had to move to a different venue for more drinks just so we could talk....Consider turning it down until after 9More
This restaurant was initially overlooked as thought it looked expensive but disillusioned by all the run of the mill cafes around town, we got a recommendation by a local and it also came up under the 10 best cafes when you google looking for a...great place to eat.
We had lunch here during the week on a Thursday so it was quiet. We sat in the window watching Nelson go by and enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal.
We had an amazing waitress- helpful, friendly and informative. She knew her stuff ! The portions of the share plates often came in 3's and as there was only 2 of us she offered to adjust it to 2's so we could order more of a variety- an offer that went down very well.
We had a number of dishes - the Beef Sliders, Ceviche Style Fish Taco, Brumby Prawn Steamed Buns, and our absolute favourite was the Fresh Fish Escabeche which was delicious- crispy rice, tasty togarashi seasoning/sauces which had a ginger and citrus tang - we had to reorder this as it was extremely delicious.
The dishes were delivered by the chefs themselves.
We treated ourselves to a couple of cocktails (Son of a Peach and Show Us Ya Spritz) and these were very yummy - strong and tasty with generous portions.
I was told this restaurant had recently sold so presume this was still the old owner operating it and can only hope the quality and service is upheld so when we return to Nelson again, we can again enjoy everything this place had to offer.
And further, my initial hesitation on the price- we were pleasantly surprised at what we paid considering the enjoyment we got from this experience.More
After work get-together for six, small table but we couldn't hear ourselves speak, far too loud music, such a shame. The place was full and you could see people were struggling to communicate - and that's what everyone was there for, Friday after-work drinks, all...set to wind down. All our group felt the same, as did a couple of other people I spoke to over the weekend. Aside from that we really enjoyed the food (ceviche, pate, chicken, sliders), the service was excellent, staff members friendly and helpful despite being busy. Keep up the good work but please sort the music. Thanks.More
As a local, for about four years I’ve been treating myself to a meal here from time to time.
The quality of food and service remains consistently high.
My favourite seating is at the bar overlooking the chefs. That way I can chat to them...about the food and their recommendationsMore
Went here for a lunch date just after Xmas and we where amazed at how beautiful the food was.
Perfectly balanced with the freshest fish I've ever had. Try the escabeche picked fish and you won't go far wrong.
Will definitely return next time we...are in town.More
