We wandered in here for a drink on an unseasonably chilly November day. The fire was roaring, the bar was cosy, the staff were friendly and the range and quality of beer was great. The food (we didn't eat) looked great too. NZ pubs don't get any better than this.

Great atmosphere - reminded me of a ski lodge with a roaring fire, would everywhere and great music playing. We only had drinks but the guys behind the bar were very cool and friendly and interested in us. If we had been staying in Kaikoura longer we would have eaten there too. Great place!

This was such a delightful surprise with a warm welcoming fire and fabulous barman. We met the local legend, Gilbert and enjoyed a few fine Guinness talking about the local music talent. Can't wait to return!

This place was pretty cool, lots of quirky and weird decorations around, even somewhat conufusing. Had a fireplace to keep toasty and the service was great, but unfortunately the food was awful.

Such a great little find in Kaikorua. A warm and friendly spot thanks to the atmosphere and brilliant service. A lovely place to visit for a cold or warm drink (mulled wine!!!) and a chat with locals, time with friends or to hear some live music. Food was ok, this is more a place for atmosphere than fine dining.

As a group of four friends away for a girls weekend we were looking for a place watch the rugby and maybe have some dinner. We were lucky enough to get a table in front of the fire which was great as it was cooler away from it. The ambience was really relaxed and friendly with nice bar staff. Due... More

Despite the open fire the place took ages to heat up but it did eventually warm up as the place filled. It was jam night so the music wasn't great but it was enjoyable listening to everyone do their bit and made for a good atmosphere.

I walked out after waiting 45 minutes for over cooked rubber (ordered squid). When I went to an establishment down the road I told them what I'd just experienced and they said "oh the place where the staff drink more than the patrons"

Such a nice bar! Great atmosphere. Brown pub (offcourse because it is an Irish pub). Nice beers. Setting down by the fire. Listning to some guys playing the gitar on a open mic night on friday. Too bad it was very quite because of the ending of the season. In summer it is very busy and on saturday. But still... More
