For a rather large town, Thames does lack a good selection of restaurants for dining once evening sets in. We were lucky to find Di Luca's before heading back to Auckland after a days exploring. As we arrived, a party of four were just finishing their meal. A lone local had just ordered a takeaway. We were greeted by the... More

I hate leaving reviews like this and can only say that it was entirely my own fault that I didn't check Tripadvisor before entering. Thames is a very long town, interesting history-wise and from the still existing buildings scattered along Pollen Street (the main Street). On this evening I really fancied a pizza to take back to our motel and... More

Di Luca's is in the centre of Thames, we visited early on a weekday evening and the place was empty. The restaurant has probably seen better days but we had a good welcome, the menu was not extensive but there was still a good choice of dishes available. The food arrived fairly quickly and was well presented, it is a... More

Lousy service, no idea about customer satisfaction, have no idea what a ceasar salad even is, grossly overpriced and the toilets are disgusting. Eat here at your own peril.

We were a group having a mid-winter Christmas and it was ideal. Menu is a little limited, but everyone was happy. (I went against the trend and steak and chips, but the pasta eaters were satisfied, too). Small, good service Friendly, relaxed and good value for money.

Two of us on holiday were looking for somewhere open at this time of the year- it was an excellent choice. Friendly, helpful, and really delicious.

Modest place, slightly tatty Italian decor; friendly and efficient service (though we were the only diners when we arrived); ordered two pasta dishes (so, no opinion about pizzas); one, penne matriciana (?), good; one, spaghetti a la puttanesca (a favourite of mine), not so good, very salty, rather short on the olives and anchovies; did have a few prawns; we... First off we find they aren't licenced to serve alcohol - when we ask if we can go and purchase a bottle of wine told only some of their managers have certification and not tonight. Point out that a group there is drinking beer...'it's low alcohol beer' we're told. Regretfully, we decide to stay anyway and order a couple pizzas.... More

Nice food. They also have pizzas and do take away. Only thing it was cold in here had to ask for the heater to be put on. Not expensive place to eat. Good service and a friendly staff person.

Description
A warm ambient authentic italian style restaurant, perfect for dining with a group or just the two of you. We have a table outside during the warmer months for takeaway diners, and a nice takeaway waiting area. Located in the middle of town, there is plenty of parking. We are licenced and allow BYO as well. Buon appetito!!
