Feeling hungry from a days sightseeing we decided that we needed some old fashioned dinner. On attending the Irish they had a Beef and Guinness Pie on the menu, but with chips!!. A quick word to the waitress soon had the meal arrive with mashed potatoes and veggies.. The only way to eat beef and Guinness pie, is of course... More

The place must have been going through a revamp as half the building was closed on the night we popped in. It was very quiet with 4 or 5 locals at the bar. But the friendly service was nice and the food was awesome. Lamb shanks as good as any ever tasted and a spot on Guinness and beef pie.... More

Great place for excellent Irish style food at a good price. Live music every night so plan a meal and stay a while for the music.

The venue is currently undergoing changes and is not quite ready for dining. The dining room was nicely renovated but most of the pub empty. Whilst the menu was varied with something for everyone, our meal was well-presented but under-cooked and over-priced. Needs to mature before we would return.

Last night was our first visit to the Irish since taken over by new owners earlier last year. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Its not easy to find places friendly families with young children. Drink orders arrived straight away, the kids meals were out promptly after that. Our meals were absolutely delicious and very generous in size! The renovations... More

Although the pub isn't much to look at from the outside the welcome we received could not have been warmer for dinner tonight. We had just arrived into Launceston for 2 night stay and found the first two restaurants we tried fully booked (8.15pm), so on walking past The Irish we thought we'd take a chance. So pleased we did.... More

We had a mixed experience. 2 of the meals were generous and delicious - chicken parmas. The cajun chicken strips (entree) was smaller and MUCH spicier than expected. The venue was noisy (I think there was a function downstairs) and we had a very long wait time. The staff were lovely.

We called into the Irish for lunch and enjoyed our meals in the impressive newly renovated restaurant. The owner Ben looked after us with very friendly hospitable service and the Beef & Guinness Pie was delicious.

We wandered in for a drink and decided to stay for a meal. I chose the Fish of the day, the food was really fresh and well presented. Lovely clean and clearly recently renovated Dining room. We hadn't been to the Irish for a long time and enjoyed seeing that the new owners have retained the original Irish Pub décor... More
