On arrival on Tuesday 4 April with family (9 of us) to celebrate my 60th Birthday, the booking hadn't been recorded when phoned through i.e. we were told that they would come and get us when they sorted something out. This was the begining of an experience that I wouldn't want repeated. First of all we were at a table... More

Well what a sham, we ordered the two for the price of one schnitzel and that is exactly what it was. A schnitzel sliced in half and fried till they were almost black. Had to get a steak knife to almost cut it and after sending it back we were still served the same lousey meal.

Have dined at the hotel twice in the last two weeks. The reason we attended The Duke was by invitation for two separate birthday parties. On the first occasion there was approx 30 people attended with a mixture of adults & children. After ordering the meal it took more than an hour for the food to arrive. The last people served were... The $10 steak is still good value but lovely beer battered chips have been replaced by the usual soggy supermarket variety. A petition by staff and clients have fallen on deaf ears. The mighty dollar has taken over. Please, we will pay more. We may have to reconvene our fortnightly get togethers at the Lambton Park Hotel.

Visited on two occasions recently for family celebrations - one Sunday lunch and one Friday evening. Meals were average and service very slow. Unusual given that dining area was nowhere near full. Adults served before children and each person was eating at different times. Won't be rushing back.

Had lunch today @DOW and was extremely disappointed. Since new management has taken over they have taken beer batter fries ( best in Newie)off the menu and replaced with ordinary fries seasoned with chicken salt. I talked to waitstaff as to why and was given a story about gluten free being more popular and drawing in lots more customers. Upon... More

We dropped into the Duke for a bite to eat the other night. As it was, the restaurant was virtually full to capacity but by the time i had downed my first Asahi, a table became available. The kitchen is very well staffed for the busy periods which allows for a greater turnover of patrons. 10 out of 10 for... More
