We visited for two coffees and cake. One coffee arrived had to go up to counter and reorder mine as no one could locate it. Waited again and when it finally arrived the waiter said I had only waited 11 minutes and they were busy. I said I didn't receive first order and yes had waited 11 minutes for second... More

Bad everything. Slow, too cool for school and/or high staff.. the ugly, sticky mismatched furniture on wobbly tables is just gross. Walk in and the clientele seem to 'catch' the staff attitude and glare at you while you go about your coffee-ing. It's just unpleasant.

My husband and I went there on 27th April for a coffee and toasted sandwich. It took the guy at the cash register at least 15 minutes to take our order of 1 small cappuccino, 1 medium flat white and 2 toasted ham, cheese, tomato and onion sandwiches, with pepper and made on sour dough. It totalled $25.60 (not unreasonable).... More

The coffee and cake were both very nice. Unfortunately the music was so loud at times it was impossible to hold a conversation. It was not consistently to loud but always on the side of being difficult to be heard.

Headed here as heard it was the best coffee in Newcastle. No let down on that score. However all the hard work on that front spoilt by slow service (a bacon and egg roll and muesli can't be that difficult) and unfriendly manner the order was taken. Instead of taking a table number away you get a picture card to... More

A cold reception by one staff member didn't give a good first impression, however the other staff were friendly and helpful. The food and coffee was acceptable but not special.

Great for a coffee or brunch. Really good coffee in a hipster retro environment. Has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

This place needs more staff. And perhaps some training for those that are already employed. I'd not normally visit Suspension but as my "Go-To" cafes are all closed over the Christmas break my hand was kind of forced on the matter. When they opened 10+ years ago, the coffee was good and the staff were nice enough (being the owners).... More

The friendliness of their service provided to their regulars, upon observation, significantly dwarfed the friendliness shown to me, though this could have been unintentional. The muffin I had was average, being also obviously catered by a service, not the cafe. The coffee was not on par, being slightly burnt and bitter. Did not live up to the 'hype'.

Casual cafe, indoor and out, furniture chunky much made from railway sleepers. Recommend the quinoa, smashed avocado, and feta, along with poached egg 'n toast. Coffee excellent. Unfortunately no fresh juices other than those in bottles and I didn't notice fresh fruit salad or roast tomatoes but I stand corrected. Very pleasant and convenient.
