Good location and service ok. Food is very expensive and very average. 7 people and a bill of $520. And they won't split the bill. Just go for a drink but have dinner somewhere else. Will definately not return here for a meal

What a fun little place! We ate a late lunch sit down service in the quieter dining room. We had the cauliflower bao buns (they even cut the annoying third bao in half so we could share it), wagyu burger and fries, pumpkin salad with...grilled chicken, two beers and sweet potato fries. Great portion sizes - Had to bring the rest back to eat later tonight! Highly recommend.More
Great location. Great staff. Friendly atmosphere. Great food and drinks. Barramundi was cooked to perfection and a great drinks list too. Definitely recommend. Beautiful views.
We’d walked past the building a few times and then had a recommendation from a local that the food was good. We sat on the terrace, great spot. The menu is s fairly typical pub menu, with an longer list of starters than mains. We...ordered duck spring rolls, salt & pepper calamari, cauliflower bao, green beans with miso & almonds and Syrian grain salad. Everything was good but the spring rolls though tasty seemed to have harmed no ducks, the calamari was good, the bao quite good. The beans were a fraction wilted but tasted great, the Syrian grain salad spot on. Overall, 80/100 for the food The staff were excellent snd overall I would recommend the hotel for good meal in a fabulous location . I go back againMore
We were very happy to get an excellent outside table with a nice view without a reservation. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had the cauliflower bao, soba noodles with tuna, miso green beans, Syrian salad and fish of the day. All was delicious.
I’ve been coming here regularly for 11 years, and the slow descent of the food quality has been disappointing to see. Where there are many ways to exemplify this, I think today’s experience with the salt and pepper squid would best summarise the decline. Once...upon a time, this dish which is a staple at venues across Australia, was fresh. Real squid, real batter, made by real people in the kitchen at the venue. It was delicious, we used to come here specifically for this dish. Now, it’s frozen crap. It looks crap, and it tastes crap. What a shame to see.More
Our family made a booking a week before to reserve a table for nine people,we arrived on time and the waitress pointed to where the table was, we sat down and after 15 minutes we got the attention of a bar steward and asked for...a menu and the drink menu he was good and bought back the menus then we got to order the drinks and he came back with drinks and wine.20 minutes later I went to the and asked if we had to order at the counter and was told that a waitress would come and take our order, another 20 minutes later we still had not seen a waitress so my daughter went back to the counter and told them that no one had taken our order,we finally got our order in and when we did receive our meals it was over a hour and a half after we arrived, the food was very ordinary and just passable,my steak was only warm and tough as a old boot and inedible as it could not be cut with a steak knife. The meals and drinks came close to $500.00 ,NEVER AGAINMore
Myself and my friends were looking forward to our first experience at Customs! While the food was good, the service we received was incredibly disjointed and impersonal. We waited for 10-15 mins just to have our order taken, which didn’t occur as we were the...ones that had to get up and ask twice. We felt like we were forgotten about in the far, empty room as were were the only ones in there. We also had to ask to get water and drinks menus, as they were not provided when we first sat. This took time as well. Only one staff member was apologetic to the situation, which was appreciated. However, the others were short with us, which felt unfair considering we were being very polite when asking for the basics like having an order taken. Probably won’t be coming back, could name an array of places in Newcastle that would be money better spent.More
Very pleasant private room for large family group celebrating an 80th birthday. Serving staff were pleasant but timing was right off - maybe due to Covid and shortages in the kitchen BUT we waited one and a half hours before entrees were served despite early...start to avoid rush hour. Meals were served at same time except for 2 children who had alternative menus and were not offered any food at all until adult main courses came out.- maybe 2 hours later, their parents then had to push for the listed desserts for them. All of the adults complained that their meals were served COLD - one was even sent back for minimal heating - just ashrug when lack of food heating mentioned to waitress. Hardly any sign of salads/veges for anyone. Most disappointing.More
The room is quite lovely, the menu is not extensive. I had the trout and it was not really to my taste. My husband had beef and said it was quite nice. Seemed like it was trying to have really fancy flavours in the meals...and they didn't really go together and I am not a fussy eater and enjoy all different types of food. Very disappointing with the service. Only got offered a drink once, waiting to be offered the dessert menu and coffee and we waited and waited and then just left. It was not busy in the dining room.More
What a wonderful place to enjoy a meal, with wonderful food, service and atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and nothing was a problem at all, the portion sizes were good and the food delicious
Really disappointed. New menu and was hoping things had changed at the venue which is in a great location. The fish of the day was a tuna steak at $41. I heard a man say as I entered the restaurant, best tuna in Newcastle so...I had to try it. The tuna which was supposed to be cooked medium rare came out with the consistency of canned tuna it was so over cooked and dry. When the waitress asked how were our meals, I showed her how disgusting the tuna was. No suggestion to take it off the bill. Won't be backMore
We called in on a Friday afternoon for a drink and were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. We opted to sit outside which was lovely, the hotel has outdoor heaters which made it very pleasent. The down side, ordered a charcuterie board which...was expensive and very plain, no cheese, no dried fruits, no biscuits, no olives - very dissappointing. Would definatley pop in again for a drink but think twice before ordering another a board.More
Lots of rooms inside where you could choose to eat. The shame was that you had to walk through the outside area- where everyone was smoking and it was really busy and there was no non-smoking outside area. The choice of the places to sit...inside was vast. Try the Batlow cloudy cider it was lovely.More
We booked online which was very easy to do. We arrived at about 7:15pm and were given a table on the veranda which was a lovely spot. The venue is a lovely building by the water. We were asked if we wanted water and then...given menus. I loved the selection of local wines - good choice and reasonably priced. The food menu I thought was ok but not very exciting or inspiring. The waitress then came and took a drinks order. When she returned, we asked for water again. We also ordered mains. 10 mins later, I had to to go and find someone to get the water! Food was quite good - burrata salad was nice for starter. We had fish for mains. The fish portion was really good and well cooked but there was not many potatoes. We left and were still hungry! The waitress did come to check on us and see if we needed anything - she was very friendly. Overall - food quite good, a little overpriced, service mixed. I’d probably only go back for a drink rather than dinner.More
