My partner and I got a great deal on bookme.com. We received a starter, main and desert for $50pp. The service was perfect! Staff were respectful, friendly and helpful. The food was VERY good! For a starter I got the special which was a tata with wasabi. It was absolutely beautiful - I thoroughly recommend. The smoked fish was also... More

Wow, a great restaurant in Queenstown. Our favourite meal after three weeks in New Zealand. Good service, good menu and wine selections. The smoked salmon app was delicious and the mains of both the pork belly and the lamb/sweetbread were incredible. Definitely a must.

My wife and I had dinner there, and it was an amazing experience. The food is outstanding, the wait staff highly trained, and the decor lovely. A very elegant evening. Truly a destination restaurant. We had the special for the evening, a beef Wellington, and it was magnificent. Highly recommend.

This place is hidden away off Ballarat Street and has no view to speak of, but if money is no object, you should come here. The ambience was very relaxed and we were looked after by Taylor who was most professional - if a little formal! The special item on the menu was a sublime Beef Wellington. We selected wine... More

I was greeted nicely and with my reservation I was seated immediately. I found I only had a drink menu so I went to the wait station where the friendly waitress gave me one and stopped by quickly to take my order. The tea infused gin cocktail with honey was a good beginning. I ordered the profiteroles since they had... More

My husband & I had an amazing meal at Rata on Friday night. We started with Whitebait from the Bites section which we shared. Then we both had the Smoked Eel entree. Both were delicious. Our main was a shared plate of Beef Wellington which was cooked to perfection. We were so full but I had to try something off... More

Description
Rata is a collaboration between internationally recognised Michelin starred & New Zealand Masterchef judge, Josh Emett and highly regarded local restaurateur, Fleur Caulton. Their company, Mayfare Limited, is fast becoming synonymous in New Zealand for creating genuine dining experiences that are contemporary and inspired.
'Uniquely Southern', Rata takes inspiration from the Southern landscapes and everything that epitomises New Zealand. The decor uses influences from the Otago scenery mixed with modern industrial elements and reclaimed & repurposed vintage items to create a uniquely contemporary and welcoming dining room.
Queenstown's cooler climate lends itself to Josh's love of slow cooked dishes and robust flavours, the discipline of his Michelin star background and that of Executive Chef Chris Scott who
heads up the Rata kitchen, ensures elegant well-balanced and inspired cuisine that always showcases the best of regional and seasonal produce.
The wine list proudly showcases wines from the Otago region and afar with a large selection of wines by the glass to give the diners variety, and match easily with the style of food.
Rata is a relaxed eating-house with a neighbourhood feel, excellent service and exceptional food. Located discreetly away from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown, tucked alongside heritage buildings with several dining spaces perfect for lunch, dinner and casual grazing.
Rata is the ideal place to unwind and enjoy award winning and genuine Southern hospitality.
