Dropped in for a drink one evening, happy hour they claimed but only on whisky and beer. Hmm. Not too sure if the owner has been to Scotland but I have and this place has no atmosphere or cheering welcome as you would find in a true Scottish bar.

Visited for a special occasion and were thoroughly disappointed given that m first experience was great!! My smoked Beef was tough and not pleasant at all and neither was my husband's beef dish. If this was bad, dessert was even worse. My husband ordered a cheesecake which only looked good but felt like rubber in the mouth. They ran out... More

As a group of seven we visited Scotia for dinner. The food was excellent but the customer service left a lot to be desired. The service was very slow with long waits for each course. When we asked for a dessert menu the staff gave the impression they didn't want us to have a dessert and the menu took about... More

We enjoyed our visit to the Scotia restaurant in Dunedin. The food was good, and the restaurant had a good ambience. Prices are on the high side, and the service is leisurely. The service may be leisurely due to the attention taken over the cooking of the food, but it is not a restaurant to visit if you are in... More

Great atmosphere, nice food. The whisky bar up the stairs was great. My husband had the haggis. He loved it....

The distillery of the month is a wonderful initiative to explore some little known whiskeys. The staff are knowledgeable and the atmosphere is cosy with a very realistic coal/gas fire. Happy hour is 10pm to 11pm but be aware last drinks may be called at 10:40pm.

This was a special occasion celebrating my sisters birthday. From the time we walked in, the female waitress was not on her game. She thought we were another party that had booked in. By 7pm the fish had run out for the evening. The bread n dips were average and the bread hard. The pasta main was ok but expensive... More

This was our first visit and was based on rave reviews from our friends. I am pleased to say it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in everything was spot on. A lovely restored old house with that calm feeling you get when you sit down. Service was superb. Because it was reasonably late when we arrived, a... More

Charming room with an excellent staff and an innovative chef. The thick beet root soup was naturally sweet and thick. Delicious. Their lamb dish was perfect, and the prawns in pea purée was clever and excellent. Their selection of scotches and ports was also impressive. It shouldn't be missed!

I have eaten at this restaurant on two other occasions a couple of years ago and rated it as one of the best. Sadly they dropped the ball on our graduation celebration dinner. Ten of us sat down to a set menu dinner in mid December with great expectations. The main took two hours to come to the table and... More
