Great mouth-watering meal choices. Massive serving. If you have a small stomach, share a main with a friend. Predictable menu as per usual pub meals. Busy atmosphere.

We booked lunch for a small group to celebrate a 90th birthday because he had enjoyed blue cod fish and chips there before. This occasion surpassed expectations. The fish was great as always, the wait staff were quietly attentive especially with beer advice, and the chef was very accomodating.

Had a group meal here in which the food was ok but the service was very poor. Had to wait some time for a waitress to see our table then consistently through the evening either had to go to the bar from our table to get our own drinks or stand up abc wave out to a staff member. We... More

went on a busy saturday night - The Crusaders were playing so the bar was full with avid rugby fans. Despite a huge dining room with some empty tables we waited a while for a table however it wasn't a problem. The food was quite generous in proportion and our waitress was charming and helpful. A good venue for a... More

Bar was packed and really noisy when we walked in and I wanted to turn around and run. But, although we were sitting quite close to the bar, noise wasn't a problem. Wait staff were very attentive, meal was average. Have eaten in a few Ale Houses, including this one before, but the menu just didn't excite. Perhaps that was... More

We stopped here for dinner as it was fairly close to our Hotel. We were exhausted and just wanted something to eat so we could go collapse in our room. Food was very good although I am not to sure about the whole "beets on a Cheeseburger" thing. Still a good burger after I removed the Beets. Prices and service... More

Always visit this with family....by the fire or outside seating, good atmosphere, good food for kids, just make sure you speak up when getting seated...the waiters dont seem to realise you cant cram 7 people including high chairs snd strollers in betweem couples having a quiet meal!!

Went for a meal and to watch the rugby. Meal was ok but bar service was very slow. Bar staff unorganized and unable to see who was waiting. Was nice and warm when we arrived (around 6pm) but after a couple of hours staff were hot so they opened all the windows and doors and given it was only 15... More

Speights is sold on reliability and quality, and this one fell a bit short. The staff were fine, and fitted me in on a busy night but the food was well under the mark. Fried calamari was just that, not even a lemon with it but just a small bowl of leaf with a strand or three of carrot. Not... More

We came here two days in a row for the buffet breakfast as we were staying at another hotel that didn't offer a buffet (they recommended this place). Food was good and priced well for our party. I'd eat here again
