Good fish and chips, great range of options on the menu. Can be a long wait though, suggest ordering ahead online.

My first time to the Mt Vic Chippery. I was in the area, and hungry for dinner. So, I said, "Why not?" and went for the sheer experience. The instructions on the wall were pretty clear (step-by-step pick 'n choose), the prices too. The counter staff were friendly, and the cooks looked happy - you can see everything being cooked.... Hi Keith, Thank for for taking the time to leave a detailed and well thought out review. We are obviously disappointed in ourselves that we couldn't obtain a 4 or 5 star review from you but I understand that on this occasion we didn't get the calamari to our usual high standard. The Chippery team will certainly be discussing this... More

I've heard great things about this place and was happy to spend $40 here trying out their options. Unfortunately my order tasted pretty bland - I've definitely had better fish & chips in Welly for a lot less. Also had the scallops, which were average, and the calamari rings were overcooked. Maybe this was a one-off as people continue to... More

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your meal at Mt Vic Chippery recently. We work really hard to perfect our batter for our freshly caught fish using quality craft beer, seasoning and flour and it is certainly not our intention to make a bland meal and/or to over cook it. If you can possibly email us through... More

Pouring with rain on a windy night and having no desire to venture too far from my Hotel I stumbled across The Chippery in Majoribanks St. What a find! You can choose your fish, the way you prefer it to be cooked, your cut of chips, your choice of sauce and a side and all for about $20! Wellington never... More

Our first stop in Wellington was Mt. Vic Chippery and it lived up to what we had been told. The options were great, they give you a nice variety of fish and options. They are also very generous portions. We loved it

Chanced on the Chippery after driving past on the way to our hotel. Quaint colorful premises so we called in and ordered snapper and chips and a mean looking beef burger. Fish was perfectly cooked with crisp batter and the chips were equally tasty. Burger was huge and also great. Was surprised at the very large assortment of fish varieties... More

Some of the best fish and chips I have had. I'm not sure what everybody else ate there, but I had two of the Moki fillets (beer battered), along with the Agria cut fries. Fantastic. Some of the best fish and chips I have had. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the batter was perfect.

Happened on to this Chippery and walked in. It is an outstanding place to eat and a great value. Freshly made fish and fries and homemade cole slaw and a wonderful fish filet sandwich filled us up and was perfect. Nothing fancy just great food at a great value. Thanks

Description
We believe The Chippery serves the best fish and chips and here's why...

We know where our fish comes from and it's super fresh. Our fish gets landed in Wellington regularly by our very own commercial fisherman and we work with other local suppliers to ensure quality and variety year round. Our oysters come from farms in Bluff and Marlborough and are absolutely delicious!

To make the best fish and chips we start with the best ingredients. We use the finest quality Wellington craft beer to make our batter. Our Agria chips are cut by hand.

When it comes to our burgers, our beef patties are also made by hand using grass-fed brisket. We use free-range pork shoulder and slow roast it for 12 hours to make our pulled pork burgers the best in town. Our Free-range eggs come from Wellington and make our delicious aioli and tartare sauces. We also use only the best free-range Waitoa Chicken on our menu.

We understand that some people are on a restricted diet and we offer a wide selection of gluten free dishes including a gluten free batter for our fish and seeded gluten free buns are available for our burgers. We even have a dedicated gluten free fryer; just remember to let us know which items you need cooking separately. The Chippery also offers plenty of vegetarian and vegan offerings. If you need anything special, just ask, we'd love to help.

We were the first fish and chip shop to use online ordering and offer a delivery service to 14 suburbs in the central Wellington area!

Welcome to the Chippery.
