We came for my mums birthday, a large group and Alison was our waitress. Family is hard to please but they were all very thankful for her service. Main meals were decent portion but the starters were so little..was disappointed with the portion size of the broccoli balls. Thanks Alison.

Took friends from Christchurch there for lunch. Service was excellant. Staff friendly and chatted about where we were from etc etc. 2 of us had caesar salads. Very short on the chicken. 1 had fish tacos, looked very nice and tasted very good. The other had prawns with salad. Again looked and tasted good. We also had garlic bread for... More

Second time I have had bad service here, won't be back not recommend. We went there on Saturday night at 8.20 pm to get desert and a couple of drinks and were told no they couldn't do it! There were people still in the restaurant and I asked " if you are still serving them desert ?" The answer was... More

One of the few places in Napier where you can eat out with a view of the sea. A shared fish platter was more than enough for two with fresh mussels, crispy fried fish and plenty of other tasty titbits

Despite fairly high prices even by New Zealand standards, the management here are too stingy to let customers use WiFi. Waitress used the old "oh, its to stop people sitting on their phones" excuse which I found insulting since I just wanted to google something in our conversation, not sit on my phone and I don't have a New Zealand... We had breakfast at The Gintrap today. An omelette and French toast, plus iced coffees. Our food and drink were very tasty and we could not fault them. Service was great with friendly staff. Lovely outlook. Would definitely go again.

A great place to watch the sunset over the harbour, and have a seafood platter and glasses of sav blanc.

We chose three sharing plates for an evening meal. The sizes were smallish, but enough for two to share. We enjoyed the scallop dish best. Drinks are pricey, particularly the wines, so expect an expensive meal if you decide to have multiple drinks. We had one each, so the cost was not huge.

After checking TA before going to the Gintrap I was prepared to be wowed!. But I was disappointed. The location is great, overlooking the commercial harbour. There is lots of off-road parking and it's a comfortable place. The staff were good to a point (explanation later) Beer and wine list is sufficient for just about any palate and the menu,... More
