A noisy place to eat dinner in a pub environment. The fish and chips were very good. The mussels and tacos were good.

well... I quite possibly had the worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere... ever... at this place about 12 of us rocked up - we had all been at a funeral that afternoon and we just wanted some time out - the bar was very quiet - no one approached us so we took the liberty to move two... It's extremely regrettable this was you're experience of Galbraith's and at such an inoppurtune moment following the funeral of a loved one. We have listened and weighed up the gravity of your comments. This is not how we operate on a daily basis. The staff member in question now no longer works for us. Please feel free to contact us directly... More

Galbraith'a Alehouse is a great, easy going place to stop in and have a beer or wine. The beer was great ( and award winning), the place had nice ambiance, the staff was friendly. It felt like an old authentic English pub - even had pub food like bangers and mash.

My wife and I had dinner here recently and really liked it. We went primarily for the beer. The cask/hand pull ales were very good. Their Russian Imperial Stout, a chilled draught beer, was a little disappointing. Not much character for an imperial stout. The food was very good. Their take on barbecued pork buns was innovative and they tasted... More

Thank you for your review, it is appreciated as are all constructive reviews. We ticked a few boxes for you and that's great. The Imperial Stout you tried was one of two gold awarded beers Galbraith's received at the recent International Beer Awards in England, the only brewery in the world to gather 2 Gold's.But as is the joy of craft... Went out for a family dinner to Galbraith's Alehouse. It was nicely set up. Had a average pub menu with great customer service and good food. They also brew there own beer so that was interesting to hear about.

We chose this place as we have had a drink here before and wanted to try the food. We took our work team here on a late decision, instead of going to the trendy Ponsonby strip. This was a great decision, the food was good honest pub food with a bit of flair, and very reasonable priced.Ohh, and the men... More

A consistent performer... Beer always good and food above average. This coverted old Library has high windows so has quite an Internal feel to it. Great for a beer & bite before going to the Power Station - across the road.

Management response:

It's quite the heritage building that offers a grand-pub feel and we have had many visitors who grew up in this area remember the Alehouse as a library.it's always good to connect the dots of history with the pub. A solid review and many thanks for that. The Galbraith's Team. More

The only irritation is the parking it is quite limited for a fairly large pub and an awkward location! However it is accessible for multiple directions and a good option for a casual meal. I met up with a long lost relative for Sunday dinner - the staff were polite and food was good!

Many thanks for taking the time to review the Alehouse. Yes with an address in a very busy location of Auckland City parking is always going to be a bit of a lottery especially during peak times and we generally get-by between our allotted spaces and the 40+ available via the Council. Thanks for coming in and hope to see... More

Okay so this place is a bit of an icon and in a heritage building of sorts. Still don't think that's and excuse to leave sticky tables and poor ventilation around. Staff weren't exactly friendly and parking is a pain on week days.

The Minton tiles in the entrance gave a hint of the type of pub. Once inside the memorabilia of British beer kept it going as did the rest of the decor. It felt like a British pub but had some great beer brewed on the premises. Tried a couple of the bitter beers and I was impressed. The food was... More
