Some of the best Thai curries around, with a wide range of choices . The rôti bread is amazing, highly recommended!

Double date! Tonight we were brought to Ying Thai in Lygon St. A sure winner of a recommendation for food. First to be served was the crab meat dish and the fried rice. Instantly fell in love with the flavours! We literally finished both dishes before the others came. The fried rice was sweet and had sultanas in them which... More

If you are desperate for a high quality Thai food restaurant in Melbourne this is the place. I have been a regular customer for some years and will be for many more years if they can keep up their yummy dishes. Most of the dishes are very authentic plus the customer service is good.

I have frequented this venue with family & friends a few times over the years. Have never been disappointed. It is always crowded & business is brisk. Best to go early to avoid waiting for a table. Seafood tom yum is a staple, we love it. If you are not used to chillies, you can request for mild, medium or... More

Great Thai food here - and clearly this is known as it can get busy - lines outside waiting for tables in a weekday night. Reasonably priced and good flavours. For vegans and vegos, not so easy but possible with some explaining. Wait staff can get your order a bit confused, so make sure you get what you order.

We ate here last night, mainly vegetarian dishes and one with prawns. It was all delicious. The place is packed with Thai customers, testament to the high quality of the food. BYO is $5 charge.

Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Be warned that medium in chilli basil dishes is hot even for experienced spicy food eaters. Plenty of chill seeds. We found the satay sauce a bit sweet but the chicken satay stick were tender and lovely flavoured. Good value.

A regular to this resto. Love the tom yum seafood. The salted crab salad is also always on our list.

The restaurant is extremely popular with lots of Thai people. Upstairs and down available. We sat upstairs - jam packed with people and very noisy. The food was ok. Green Curry chicken ok. The crispy pork belly - a fail. Tough as rubber and not enjoyed at all.

What a great thai restaurant! Food exceptionally good, especially red curry duck and prawn cakes. Lemongrass ginger tea served in extraordinary elephant cups. Living in hong kong we had fabulous thai restaurant and over the last ten years we have never found the same quality thai food until today.

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
