I wish we had this in Sydney. Great food and quick service. Not a place for a quiet meal but more of a 'eat and go' vibe and that was ok.We'd be back again if we're ever in Melbourne again.

A great place to pop in for a quick filling meal. A decent variety of food all for less than $10. I personally found the ginger they add to some of the dishes too strong but it was otherwise great.

After reading the reviews here thought I'd give this a try. I got niku (beef) udon to take away. It was a huge serve. It was ok but not something I would rave about or would remember in a hurry. It was adequate and cheap and I guess that's why it's popular.

Suitable for big eater as food portion is big. Economic price and good taste. We tried their don, bento boxes, chicken curry and also salmon.

Clean and simple. And price was great. Ordered raw salmon don. It was quite filling and had more salmon than I expected.

For the taste, price and speed you cannot beat this place in Melbourne for a takeaway. Returned a number of times. The chicken curry take away for $7.70 is a bargain.

Low price with good food, more importantly, convenience location! If you eat a lot, I highly recommend bento boxes, double source of protein for meat lovers. Beef and chicken curry served in big bowls are nice too! Sukiyaki beef don is 6.9 AU in a smaller bowl, but it's surprisingly filling, very nice!

Ate here 4 times on a 6 day trip to Melbourne, it was so good we just couldn't resist coming back. Especially when a full meal costs just $7.90 and is served within a matter of seconds. Great when you're in a hurry!

This is one of those restaurants in Melbourne that is very casual and one of those places you stop buy for a quick lunch....and when I mean quick, the service is VERY quick. You will order the meal and within 2mins it will be prepared (maybe even 30seconds). It is fresh, hot and beautiful to eat. I actually cannot fault... More

I was late and I was starving. Everywhere around me, the restaurant was crowded. I went inside Don Don and I have been very surprised by the quality of the food. It's very quick and delicious the chicken teriyaki with rice and ginger are great for 9AU$. Its a kind of Japanese fast food. No alcohol but good plain water.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
