I visited Gingerboy on March 13 and had their tasting menu, so the selection of food was not up to us, neither did they list the food items. I was not impressed by the selection. Too many deep fried selections.

Gingerboy can be hard to get into, its usually booked 2 weeks in advance or so, so the first tip is to make sure you’re organised and book in advance (for the restaurant). We had the best experience from walking in the door to the...More

Came here before seeing a musical nearby so we were on a tight timeframe, but the waiter was happy to accommodate. Had a booking upstairs - it’s definitely more casual but a good option if you can’t get a table booking and isn’t like being...More

We enjoyed an early dinner here before a theatre visit (great location for this). You will need to book, even mid week and it was certainly full by the time we left. Staff are attentive and reliable in their suggestions and all food was delicious...More

We were a small group but opted for a menu which felt like it just kept going! We really like the seafood options - great spices without being to hot! Brilliant food (esp the desserts!) and good wine list. Setting is casual and fun.

Tonight we had a great dinner before the theatre. The service was quick and efficient. The waitstaff were attentive but not overbearing. We ordered 4 of the smaller share plates and the flavours were great. Our favourite was the spicy chicken ribs. They were all...More

Visited Gingerboy last night for the first time and it was great. It was a work dinner celebration so we had the banquet upstairs. When I booked I explained 4/11 of us were gluten free and the team went out of their way to ensure...More

We decided on the banquet menu after having trouble deciding what to order. Food portions were spot on and each dish tasty. Wait staff are very attentive and friendly. We even had the manager serving us and checking in. Little noisy as busy even on...More

Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place

Melbourne restaurants don't really have a long life span. Ginger boy, unfortunately is one of these, with pricey menu's, and ordinary service, there are much better experiences to be had. For a Hens night, I would suggest... More

The dining experience at Gingerboy is centered on a modern Australian adaptation of the Asian hawker-style street market food. The restaurant's hustle and bustle, its fast-paced, youthful and dynamic environment is influenced not only by the dining culture of Southeast Asia but also by buzzing Asian marketplaces and an Asian sense of colour and fun.
