This Chinese Restaurant survives well against massive Chinatown competition and the reason is obvious. It was recommended to us by the bar people in the local pub and we soon found out why. Service is basic busy Chinese restaurant style with not much of a wait to get served even on this busy night. But the food is magnificent Chinese,... More

Hi went to Melbourne with some friends for the weekend l was taken to this Chinese restaurant up a little lane and thought where is he taking us. So went up the stairs and had to wait for a table this is at 11.00pm and thinking this must be good and it was.only a small restaurant but it was good... More

This is a hidden gem for late night night eating. Fantastic food, with many different dishes to choose from. Early dinning will probably require you to wait in line on the stairs, but either way you won't be disappointed with this Chinese eating house.

I love this place. Reminds me of Chinese restaurants in Australia years ago, always Cantonese style and always owned by Hong Kongers. Food is fresh and quality, who cares it's a bit expensive for Chinese food but come on we're talking the CBD not the burbs. I don't think this is a "late night feed" place anymore but a good... This used to be my favourite but a recent visit has changed all that. I can understand one out of five dishes is average but when one in five is ok, then there's something wrong. I have been coming for years but no more. On my last visit I should have known it had changed when the walls had been... More

I've been to this restaurant a lot but find its going down hill. Food is still the same but prices have gone up and service has gone down.

Third visit to Supper inn for me. I go to this place for food not for service. The food is tasty. Reasonably priced and the portions are not bad. It is busy and their service staff seem to struggle.

Special name, but the food over price! You can find similar food near by, but only half price. Service was not too bad, buy the min charge it's ridiculous! 宵夜店但是有最底消費,完全不是宵夜小吃的感覺,食物普通沒有特別美味,但價格炒飯,水餃…等都比外面其他餐館昂貴許多,相當不推薦。

Like it or hate it because of $20 per person? Let's get serious. This place is always busy, so those cheap skate can go else where but u have been visiting this joint for past 28 years. Porridge is always awesome. Rice noodles with prawns n eggs simply delicious. Vegetables , are freshly cooked. This is a fast n furious... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
