Crisp strong flavours, relaxed environment on the deck and elaborately respectful staff. This is an unusual Chinese restaurant and very good. Meals are perhaps a little heavy on the meat; could use some vegetable relief.

Food quality is good but not outstanding. Service was excellent though. Our table was on the balcony overlooking the Ybarra river and Melbourne city. Very nice setting

Round table for 7 people, excellent service we chose banquet D and had so much food . Loved the entree and Peking duck was executed professionally. Nothing to fault other than perhaps not packing up tables into cupboards close to table while guests are still dining..

I have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions both in a group and as a couple and I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Plenty to choose from on the Menu something to suit everyone . The whole experience is more up market then your everyday Chinese Restaurant and I guess to some extent that... More

We had lunch here and were pleased overall. The Yum Cha was great but they did seem a little flustered with the amount of people that were eating. I guess that's a sign that it is a good restaurant popular with the locals.

Had yum cha here on a recommendation and it was good without being great. That said the experience overall was pleasant and I would go back.

Amazing location, spectacular views, friendly and courteous staff. Excellent banquet options, outstanding ala-carte and yum cha and classic Chinese dishes.

First time back to the Red Emperor since leaving Melbourne 8 years ago and still delighted with the experience. We enjoyed a banquet for 4 at around $75 per head which we all thought to be good value for money. The prawns and scallops were fresh and the duck was excellent. The staff are great and the wine list is... More

This place has an epic view of Melbourne, and it's a melbourne institution. However the food is pricey. Ideal if you can go with more than 2 people because you will save in cost. One of the first chinese restaurants in Southbank. Good to go if you are wanting to go to a show after.
