After flying into Melbourne on Friday night we didn't get to the city until 9pm. We wandered Chinatown and all of the restaurants were extremely busy - Chine on Paramount was no exception but they quickly found us a table for two. The menu is extensive - so much that we didn't know what to order! We asked for their... More

Our party of 5 were desperately seeking somewhere to dine quickly before attending Aladdin & happened upon this restaurant by chance. They were able to seat us immediately & assured us we would be served in plenty of time to get to the theatre. They were true to their word & our orders were quick to arrive. We ordered a... More

We chose this place as it was just near where we were staying, and the presentation from outside looking in was attractive. Service was wonderful with very attentive servers, and when we ordered two dishes for the two of us to share, one of the servers suggested that both were quite similar, and he helpfully suggested a few other dishes.... We walked down the street looking for a Chinese restaurant with lots of customers and found this one! And we were very happy with what we got! The dishes we ordered were all very good and the service was fantastic. Very reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend this restaurant

Although at the end of Chinatown and not in the midst of all the action that Chinatown provides, this is one seriously authentic restaurant. The service is amazing, either the staff willing to help with anything i.e. More drinks or change of dish. I always have the Peking duck. It is always cooked to perfection and some generous serves with... More

The food was fabulous and large portion sizes. Were happy to make takeaways for us to take home after our meal. Wheelchair friendly entrance and dining room. Service was the best I have ever heard or seen.

Had a group of 5 and the hostess outside waited patiently while the group decided if they could get something off the menu. Took a while to decide and our waiter was patient and asked if we were happy for him to come back later each time. When we finally decided, the waiter was there almost instantly and asked us... Great service, well priced food & drinks. The food was fantastic and plenty of it. Enough for a doggy-bag and lunch the next day. Very recommended.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
