A great experience and glad we made a booking as it was quite busy at 8pm! Service was great, fast and friendly but the atmosphere was drowned out by loud thumping of waiters running up and down stairs all night to the second level. We were seated at a booth right near the base of the stairs, and couldn't hear... More

What a pleasant experience! Found ourselves there after finding Florentino's Bistro booked out. Will certainly return. This restaurant had a lovely feel about it. The lighting was soft, there were white tablecloths and it was not noisy. The food was delicious, with beautiful texture and flavours. (I had the grilled salmon which was outstanding) The staff were first class. We... More

We were a group of six celebrating one couples Anniversary and wanted to try this restaurant. The wait staff were efficient but the quality of food for the asking price disappointing, there are definitely better restaurants in the CBD in this price range. I had the barramundi for main which was tasteless I expected an infusion of saffron flavour which... More

Situated in the top end of Bourke near posh shopping (Collins) and theatres, Bottega is perfectly placed for lunch or dinner. Lovely, friendly staff. Menu has standard selection of Italian fare but with plenty of interesting and different twists. Not a huge menu but more than ample of choice. Menu starts with 6-8 options for sharing (think salt cod croquettes,... More

Good food, friendly service. We had Tasmanian beef stake and grilled lamb shoulder, both were absolutely tasty. Seasonal asparagus recommended by the staff was vey fresh and delicious. A comfortable place for business dinning too. They had a pretty wide range of selection of wine. The restaurant is only a few-minute walk from The Windsor Hotel. 240 dollars for two including... Stumbled in when our intended restaurant was mobbed. I'm glad we found Bottega instead. Intimate feel with brown paper sheets over starched white table linen. Great for drawing or spilling. Excellent Venison Ravioli and Buratta. Menu was heavy on the sea side- fishes and tentacled things and their respective parts and secretions. But terrestrial meats also represented. Very nice wine... Handled a group of about 10 of us all from the a la carte menu, with good service. Specials included truffled asparagus with soft poached egg exactly as it should be cooked.

Booked their pre-theatre setting for dinner for my partner's birthday and before our show at Regent's Theatre. The prices are $55 for 2 courses or $65 for three courses and you need to order by 6.30PM and be out by 7:30PM. They get really busy during this pre-theatre times and for a fine dining venue, the set prices weren't too... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
