The idea is great, the place interesting and the staff delightful, but the bar food was a let-down. The combined charcuterie/cheese platter had a few pieces of meat and very little cheese and was served with a few crackers, no bread - pathetic for $37. The chips were lovely, but then they ran out! I know it was a Sunday,... More

Had high hopes but was surprised to find that the place is very small and feels stuffy. Friendly staff but drinks are over priced. No specials on weekdays on drinks.

Very quirky bar with 2 areas: East Berlin and West Berlin. Cocktail selection is great and they all taste spectacular! Definitely a great place to come for a few drinks!

Great concept for a bar. However, it was very disappointing to be harassed by the manager here after a bartender kuddelmuddel'ed our drinks. I wouldn't recommend this bar to anyone who likes to be treated with respect.

I went to this bar with preconceived ideas that I would not enjoy it at all but was very pleasantly surprised. Yes the drinks are overpriced but the staff/service more than make up for that. Interesting decor and a great location. I would recommend it for any night and any age group. Excellent staff.

Best hidden bar I've come across! You ring a door bell to which someone answers and then they seat you either in the east or west of Berlin.. which is awesome so one side is all fancy and nice and the other side is poor and run down.. the beer was really good and the cocktails were fancy.. go see... After not being quite certain we had found the right place and ascended the stairs and knocked on the door we had a very pleasant surprise as we were escorted up the stairs and in to the bar. We were given the option of sitting in the snazzy west or duller less refined (but excellently decorated east side. We opted... More

This must be one of the fanciest pub around. A bit intimate and trendy. Good selection of beers and more. A kind of chill place to start your pub hopping..:)

We didi a free tour with my friend when we first got to the city, and loved the idea of the bar, so we were able to go the last night we were staying in Melbourne, and we sat in teh Eastern section, had a gin an tonic (very tasty, by the way) and really loved the vibe of the... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
