During a short few days trip to Melbourne, we went to Chin Chin twice because the food was so nice! It's not the best restaurant for service (it can take a long time to get a waiters attention and they serve only warm tap water, not cold), but they do make up for it in the quality of food and... Not the place for eating now! No bookings works sometimes but allowing at least 1 hour for table ?/'['=; Hunger pains, can drink downstairs whilst you wait, great little money spinner that idea. But anyway Great reasonably priced food, Welcoming staff efficient, Drinks a little pricey.Table staff prompt, food arrived quickly, Great night.

I've been to Chin-Chins many times, whether it be during the day for a work lunch, straight after work before the evening rush hits or when it's peak time and waiting in a line is mandatory. The food is absolutely amazing, the standard is consistent. Service is alright, pretty good I guess for a restaurant which is always so busy.... More

Group of 5 - we had a great time at Chin Chin. We went with the $69 for eight courses (waitress choice) every dish was delicious - lots of food, so we weren't left hungry. Every seat in the place was sat on and there was a queue at the door. The restaurant was loud and had a great music... More

We had heard good things about Chin Chin. We decided to try it for a four person dinner. We managed to negotiate the "booking" system with a manageable wait. The food was excellent- however that was the only positive in our overall experience. The relentless racket from the loudspeakers caused the patrons to speaker louder which built up the aggregate... Long wait on Friday nite so we returned for lunch on Saturday. Seated immediately. The food was outstanding. Very hip vibe - music was a little loud for my taste, but I'm old.

Few restaurants warrant a review in my opinion. But Chin Chin in Melbourne is not only worth the wait, it is worth a review. Modern, Thai in a hip, modern, filled to the roof, with a well-coordinated staff. The #1 tasting menu for 2 ($70 Aus/person) is a delicious way to try their best pork, beef, fish, curried chicken and... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
