Chin chin certainly has some good options with the banquets. What was a shame is the large serves of dishes early on with the duck last when everyone was very full. The rush of dishes to the table was ridiculous and there was no time between courses. The dessert with coconut and pineapple was sublime. Unfortunately the rest of the... More

Maybe expensive for European standards... but it was worth it! We order the special menu to share and it was amazing... so much food!

I've eaten Thai and Vietnamese all around the world and I have to say waiting 1.5 hours on a Sunday night to dine at Chin Chin was in my top 3 of all time meals. They don't take reservations (meal was so good I purchased their cookbook which explains their philosophy of walk up only); we stopped by Saturday night... More

Not sure what the fuss is all about. Food was average at best and over priced. We had the DYI vegetarian roles. Mostly cabbage, some burned pumpkin and tofu. Bland and boring. The mapo tofu dish was good, but not exciting. The corn coriander fritters were ok, but looked unappealing 😣

Practically everybody who has been to Melbourne has recommended that I visit Chin Chin so the expectations were pretty high. The staff were really kind and took time to take us through the menu, their recommendations were also on point. I had the Papaya Salad and the Pad Seuw and both were fantastic. Both were simple Asian dishes but they've... More

Haven't been here for well over a couple of years since leaving Melbourne, but it was a must visit on our return. Didn't disappoint, as the food was still amazing and so flavoursome. Every dish delicious - both the new additions and the old favourites.

I have been at Chin Chin probably 100+ times now and love it every time. My favorites are DOY, Chicken wings, Barramundi and pork salad, Massaman curry, Pad Thai, and the star is Crab salad.

Very high standard of asian cuisine, infused with fresh flavours - the ceviche is to die for! All food was very fresh and tasty. The food just kept coming, so you definitely dont leave feeling hungry. Perfect for groups or just a couple. Atmosphere was great downstairs, not to loud where you have to shout but definitely a nice vibe.... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
