We had the most unpleasant experience at Mr Mason for lunch. This being our pick for Melbourne 2017 Food & Wine festival makes this even worse so. After more than an hour waiting for our lunch (we were told there was a big group to be seated and fed before us - so I guess we weren't as important), the... More

We held a team dinner here and we're all quite impressed. The food was fresh and tasty and portion size was acceptable. The duck sausage rolls were superb. The food was a little pricey but you definately get what you pay for. The staff were fantastic and we will be back.

This place has evidently changed hands. By the look of it it now makes its money on breakfasts lunches and early after work drinks. Certainly not a place that anyone goes for dinner. Good food though and good wine list. Address on web site is incorrect after collins st entrance closes at 6pm so i guess they would lose customers... More

We have a note and a map on our website to help make it clear that the best entrance is on Little Collins St. just for that purpose. Glad to hear you enjoyed the food and wine, which we think is the most important thing. More

Very pleasant outdoor space and a reasonable drinks menu. Food offerings are limited if you're GF or vegetarian. Staff relatively proficient.

I went to Mr.Mason on Friday night with a friend for an after work drink. We had the rose as the moscato was sold out/un-available. We ordered the cheese platter, which tasted great but the only thing I would suggest would be offering more crackers and cheese, they were very light on. Waitstaff where nice enough, they didnt go out... More

We ate from the express lunch menu, and all 4 of us were blown away by the fantastic meals; Barramundi was Brilliant, and my dad had the pork and seriously loved it. comes with a glass of something, the bubbles were the nicest pick.

They do not offer steaks well done. So I had to take fish instead that was just average, the espresso served afterwards was cold. Take it or leave it attitude. Bad customer service.

Another of Melbourne's treasures. A modern French menu combined with a great wine selection. Great staff.

From an expertly made coffee to get your day started to a dessert cocktail to complete your dining experience and everything in between. Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
