Went here for the evening stalls and food. Very different evening. Lots of various stalls selling foods representing various countries. We ate Thai and Louisanna goods. Tasted really good too. Negative : not very clean for eating a meal and with limited seats/table. Not made for comfort! Positive: great vibes with many young folk and a wide array of foreigners.

We went here for the first time last night around 6:45pm. Wow, it's huge! There was so much going on and a lot of people there, it was ram packed. There was various bars around the market selling wine, beer, soft drinks and water etc. There was also many small bands / entertainers singing and playing music on small stages... More

Great place to visit if you are in Melbourne City. We were not sure what to expect but were overwhelmed by how big it was (in a good way) and most of all the fresh produce that is sold there looked fantastic. There is an additional section that sells deli items and butchers and seafood, bread, cakes etc etc. Everything... More

One of Melbourne-must-see place. Find anything here, fruit to vegetables, cheap clothes to souvenirs, raw meat to ready to eat warm bread. I came here as a tourist or when I need to buy some ingredient to cook, and will always recommend this place for any relatives that having holiday in Melbourne.

Tons of food varieties available in this well-known market...fruits, seafood, meats, dairy products, bakery, dessert and organic, etc... Clean and spacious... Except for food market, clothing and souvenir products are available as well as wide variety dining shops... Glad to find lots of old buildings being conserved and reused in the city centre

Had a great time checking out all the stalls. We had fish for lunch but the choice is endless. Great fruit and vegie bargans. Wish I could come more often. Special display for Chinese New Year.

Thank Rose B

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
