My wife and I popped into Olio's for lunch. My wife had been here earlier and had a really good meal, so we went stomping through the alleys to find this joint. We had the dips before our lunch. They were all quite beige in colour (which is fine, but wife wanted colour), and we didn't know what flavour was... More

This quaint little Italian cafe in Block Place is gorgeous. The food is delicious, and the service is fantastic. Unfortunately we were unable to book ahead, which would have improved our stay slightly, but we were able to secure a table for six for brunch without a hitch. The staff were great, and let us celebrate our friends' 21st birthday... More

Quaint restaurant in the bustling lane ways of Melbourne. The breakfast menu accommodated all dietary requirements and the chef was only to happy to make minor alterations to make the customer happy. The corn fritters and french toast were delicious. The staff were very friendly and obliging. We would definitely return.

I was recently in Melbourne for a few days. During that time my cousin and I caught up to have lunch before going to a show. We were walking down Block Place in the city and stopped to look at Olio Cucina's menu. We both decided that Paella sounded great. The Paella was, in fact, delicious. This experience was made... If in Melbourne do yourself a favour and go to Olio for a meal or for coffee and cake. We had the most delicious dinner at Olio, the duck risotto was the best I have ever had, it was so fresh, light and delicious. The pizza's are amazing and the service unbelievable very polite and professional, the staff were so... More

I was looking for a place To eat in this area for a group of us to catch up and chose Olio because of the TripAdvisor reviews (Yay team!) It certainly lived up to the high praise given by others. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The table was central to the restaurant... More

We've come here so many times now, my wife and I. We just adore the charming nature of the restaurant, with a concise and flavoursome menu, of an Italian theme. The way it's set back down and alley, with a wonderful expansive interior of nooks and crannies in which to sit and chat and eat and drink. Always great service,... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
