Small, side street. You know will be good just from that. You can sit outside too. Small menu because chef is changing weekly. I'm a risotto lover after trip to Italy. Risotto with leek, peas and rocket salad was amazing. Next time will take my family. Atmosphere relaxed. For sure I will come back there.

I was trying to answer the quintessential Melbourne question- is coffee better served by a hipster in a laneway? No. Blistering hot, even after 10 minutes. Literally blistered my lip. But the scrambled eggs were top notch, though typically the sour dough was tough to cut. Well priced, good breakfast selection and great people watching. The Italian tattooed barista was... More

Perfect place for our dinner. Next door to the hotel we stayed in. Quirky little place that has cicillian influences. All meals were of a very high quality. Very attentive wait staff that were happy to explain all items on the menu. We both had 3 courses and and a couple of drinks, finishing up with delightful coffees. Total bill... More

This is a lovely casual place. The food was great and slightly different. Pasta well cooked. I recommend it.

Coffees (Short Black and Long Black) were well prepared and presented. Importantly no major faults with a smooth taste and lack of bitterness ;making them a pleasure to drink. No fuss service in the middle of an arcade with stools indicating a short-term stay is preferred. Service friendly, didn't try the food, not a lot of custom so no wait.

Been here several times for both a coffee and lunch/dinner and always loved it. The food is great and usually the service is terrific! Today however the two Italian girls working were ignorant, very slow and we had to really force our presence. Took 40 minutes for our fresh juice and a chai latte to come out, had just started... Friday evening, fairly quiet, stand fare and prices. Party of 4 one main incorrect, that long wait, do we start do we wait until other main returns. Whatever you do, dont need the toilet mid meal. Staff embarassingly explain David Jones store toilets are the closest. Across the street, down to the basement, through the food hall to the far... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
