We went on a weekday after 9:00AM and didn't have to queue that long...the wait was worth it. Although we had to share a large table, the baked eggs with scallops and beef cheek were marvellous. Service was good and staff are friendly. They don't...More

Seated at the bar, directly in front of the kitchen plating area. Wow, totally amazing to watch the chefs at work. We ordered shortly after sitting down, then found ourselves with food envy, watching the amazing breakfasts being put together. Apple juice was lovely, coffee...More

We were told we could not visit Melbourne without having breakfast at the hardware societe. We did and were a bit disappointed. The croissant was probably a few days old. The Bircher “muesli” was a bit disgusting. French food is kinda revisited the bad way.

Ate at The Hardware Societe for the first time and then went back for a second visit on our last day in Melbourne. Beef cheek was tender and melted in your mouth, and the pork belly was cooked perfectly. Mocha was chocolately and delicious. On...More

It’s no surprise that you may need to queue briefly to be seated in this hidden gem. Breakfasts are contemporary takes on the classics and staff are as vibrant as the menu. Delicious.

Long, long wait on a weekend morning, but worth! Very very high quality brunch breakfast menu, we shared two between three and we were very full. Both the crab tartes and the tuna millefeuille were delicious and coffee was perfect.

above average food. good service. I only ordered recommended items. Hit and miss. Baked eggs with chorizo was good but the one with scallops was meh. Benedict with beef cheef was good but the lobster one was meh. Good coffee and hot chocolate.

Pricier than other options nearby but the food was exceptional, the staff were efficient and the menu lets you practice your French, with a dual language menu. I'll definitely be back.

We ordered 2 cappuccino, 2 mains: Pork Belly & Fried Eggs and Baked Eggs. It was sooooo good! Would recommend everyone to come here. The best cafe so far in Melbourne.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
