The food here is great if you're looking for traditional English pub fare. The prices are reasonable and the serving sizes are on the large side. You get a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready and you have to go and pick it up yourself from the counter. It was really busy when we were there so... More

What a great place. It was a cold night, but you sure felt cosy in the pub. The food was great - typical English meals - snags & mash, pies, etc. Really good hearty winter meals. (I'm Aussie, but love some of this stuff).

Dropped in for pre show drinks and the place was buzzing. The people at the bar are very friendly and we had a couple of ciders at an outside table.

We popped into this pub for a few drinks and dinner. We sat outside in the warm Melbourne weather and it was lovely. I had the salmon which was very nice. The service was friendly.

very busy at meals times at night, but we still got a table for 2 upstairs. Very noisy, but lovely atmosphere for a pub. Food options were plentiful and no delays. Meals were great value. Also plenty of options for beer and cider

This is a decent pub with good tap beers and daily food specials. Little Creatures Bright Ale and Pale Ale on tap. Had a parma and it was average without being great - could have been better, but you're not really coming here for the food. TVs and booths were good.

The only positive thing I can say about this venue is the location. Waiting for over 50 minutes for a burnt burger and a poor excuse for Shepherds Pie was totally unacceptable. The food is prepared upstairs and sent down by a "dumbwaiter". By the time it arrives - which you collect, as there is no table service, it is... More

what a great hotel to eat at, service was fantastic ordered the angus burger which included chips on the side and soft drink for $20 which was a fantastic deal for the city. Went there for a retirement lunch with friends, everyone on the table loved what they ordered and felt the price of the food was very reasonable, quite... More

Located on Exhibition St, Melbourne. Has live entertainment upstairs. Can be a very popular place to be, especially late on weekends. Has a good variety of beers and other drinks.

This was a real let down. The service is awful and the food is just as bad. You order at the bar, you're given a fob, it buzzes when the food is ready and you collect at the bar. We had the roast chicken breast, it was disgusting and tasteless, and it was cold. Wouldn't recommend here at all for... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
