Haven’t been there for a while, but went there a couple days ago, now just notice, there’s significant improvement on the service & the other dishes as well, the duck was good (they no longer serve the duck next to your table now, all prepared in the kitchen, hope they bring that back!), but order a few other dishes, all... I have to admit I'm a creature of habit and I find it had to move out of my comfort zone (Flower Drum is the best) but I was disappointed with Quanjude. The staff appeared zombie like and with a perpetual inability to smile for soe reason. The food is OK but not worth what you can pay for elswhere.... More

I've always been curious abt this restaurant since I pass by it rather often and that it bears the same name as the well known Peking duck restaurant in Beijing. Made a last minute reservation on a Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate it. Here are the 'highlights' of my meal: Ordered chrysanthemum tea... More

Spoilt for choice in this area so as a visitor it's a real lucky dip. We took a punt and after a scary walk upstairs we were treated to a delicious banquet. We had soup, prawn, beef, honey chicken and calamari dishes and they were all delicious. But the best part was the duck pancakes...wow. And ours mouths were watering... More

Just happened to walk into this restaurant in Queen St. Although they were quite full on a Friday evening, my son & I managed to get a table. We cant decide what to eat so we opted for the 5 course set dinner which cost $68 each person incl of tax. The set has minced chicken, their famous peking duck,... More

Quanjude has been doing Peking duck since 1864 in Beijing. Having this kind of stature gives this place the gratitude and respect it deserves. From the first time we came here, we were suggested to start with the soft shelled crab, then Peking duck followed by the wagyu beef that melts in your mouth. This has been our staple menu... More

Met up a couple of friends at this restaurant last night for dinner. The ambience reminds me of an Emperor's palace in China. The golden chairs and tables are exquisite. Service was quick and orderly. The peking duck was cooked to perfection. The duck sauce was delicious with the finely made pancake. Every bite was simply divine. We also ordered... More

Very average food and service. Most staff made us feel like we're lucky to be there even though the place was almost empty. However, the worst thing was when it came to pay the bill - the waiter came over to the table with the eftpos machine, looked at the bill and added $15 to it (as a tip) without... More

One of the best Chinese we have been to in a city renowned for its Asian cuisine. Food was high quality, well prepared and just the right quantity. Duck was good but Waygu beef even better. Good wine selection. Very good service. Cost mid-range.

They served overnight microwave Peking duck to us by reheating the duck using microwave.the duck meat was dry and hard to chew. the side dishes like cucumber and spring onions not fresh and dry. We did make a complain to manager but it turn us away rudely. Pay bill and left the restaurant angrily.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
