If your looking to have a nice evening grazing on food and sharing wine and stories this is not the place to be. Although greeted warmly with someone taking our jackets and seated at the bar, the expectation is to eat then move on so they can replace your presence. After being rudely interrupted many times mid conversation with offers... More

A lively and popular place with great food. A casual atmosphere hides the quality inside. The service was very, very good too.

I was excited to go to Movida Aqui after eating at Movida Next Door before, but this time I was by myself. Next time I would love to enjoy a meal with friends. The staff made me welcome and I was seated at the bar and able to watch the skilled staff prepare drinks, interact with each other, etc. I... More

I came here for a business dinner with a Melbourne based colleague who is a regular and whom the staff know well. Needless to say this made for a wonderful experience. The tapas dishes and the wine were excellent: from the pardon peppers to the various seafood dishes. Not at all cheap but very tasty. Possibly the only qualm is... More

Loved this tapas restaurant with its long wooden tables and trendy décor. Definitely a unique culinary experience featuring a vast array of tapas which creatively combine Spanish flavourings with Australian ingredients, giving you such original dishes as: 'Buey', roast beef of Wagyu, a ceviche of Shark Bay Prawns and a 'calamari sandwhich' prepared with a Basque chilli pepper marinade and... Great for lunch, dinner and functions. An all-rounder! Food is sourced from very good priduce and dishes are well presented. For functions of 8 or more, the chef chooses the best dishes of the day and serves them with panache. Wine list is great and service is attentive.

Very disappointed. We found the food poorly seasoned, very unlike what we've experienced in Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Sevilla. The bread and the anchovy was the best part of the meal. I understand about food of different regions, but seasoning is of utmost importance. We also ordered the kingfish, octopus with kipfler potatoes, beef cheeks and if I remember swordfish as... More

Expect tasty food but expensive and small portions. The beef cheeks was one of the highlights of the night. On the other hand I wouldn't recommend the chorizo - we were expecting fried chorizo but got tiny uncooked slices for about $20. Also dessert is a must. We got the churros and flan - both were excellent (though the flan... More

Dinner with family. Tapas for everyone. Anchovies, Sardines, Baby Squid, Peppers, Kingfish. Outstanding flavours. Staff very good, wine list comprehensive, and very expensive. Food really well priced for the quality and presentation. Memorable night!

Staying at Wyndham Hotel so this restaurant is sooooo close. Staff were very accommodating and found us a table via a last minute booking. Clearly a popular place to eat and as our various dishes arrived it's obvious why - delicious. First time for our family to try tapas and we weren't disappointed; I'd recommend the Queso de Oveja, the... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
