OTZ FOOD, Port Douglas

As I ride in a group of motor cyclists, I am always on the look out for new places to have breakfast, I have ridden past this place and it looks good. So I went in and waited to be served, i was the only...one there, so after a few minutes, The lady behind the counter came out, we chattered about the menu and if they did breakfast? I explained about the bike group I rode in and how we Like to arrange breakfast ride, from 2 riders to 10-20 riders (that if it is larger that 6 riders i will always ring) just out of respect. I explained that we are after a place to turn up order breakfast and be gone again within an hour. (From start to finish) I was shown the food display counter and placed my order of a coffee and a sweet potato risotto muffin, so after my ordering, I took a seat, about 15 minutes still no coffee or food, nor the waitresses acknowledged me sitting there waiting, about 5 minutes latter the lady I ordered with came to my table she asked if i was in a hurry? I advised I wasn’t yet! She advised that they had missed my order and it wont be long, there was an apology but there wasn’t an offer of a refund or anything, so another 5 minutes my coffee turned up, it was a very good coffee but not worth the 20 minute wait, so about 5 minutes later my meal came out. The presentation was beautiful, the flavours great, the meal was good. But! It wasn’t the best display of great customer service, and I don’t think I will recommenced this place for the bike group because of time limit. I will recommend this place if your after a nice meal and coffee and not on a tight time limit.More

Takeaway coffee was awful...let alone the service

My colleague and I stopped for a takeaway coffee recently and we both ended up throwing them away as it was just awful! Not only that, but my colleague came away from the cafe saying she would never visit again as she was given such...a disparaging look upon entering and no greeting at all that she felt quite uncomfortable. Then...the coffee was just plonked on the counter and no explanation saying which was which as you would expect for good customer service. My colleague said her goodbyes and there was absolutely no response from the woman behind the counter. We have since spoken to locals that live nearby and they just don't go there...sad really! On a positive side I have heard from others that the food is good but atmosphere is coolMore

Came for bad service, left disappointed

I liked the community feel at OTZ. Breakfast was fine - generous and tasty. The long blacks were far too big. The well- documented passive aggression of the owners failed to materialise, which was slightly disappointing.More

Delighted !!

Dinner date with my husband ... delighted with the whole experience ... thank you Lizzie and Karen !! Delicious food and wine, candlelit table, friendly attentive service, spotless premises ... what more could I ask !!

Outstanding Experience

We recently had a family birthday celebration and decided to get Lizzie and Karen from Otz to do a special dinner for 12 in our home. We can't speak highly enough of the girls. They were very happy to discuss menu options and food preferences...and went out of their way to make sure everything was just as we wanted. They were very professional, came in and set the table, and then cooked and served a delicious meal. They also cleaned up afterwards and left the kitchen spotless! We wouldn't hesitate to use Karen and Lizzie again. Many thanks girls for a great night. Andrew and CathyMore

When large isn't large

We enjoyed our late breakfast, scrambled eggs and breakfast trifle, so much we skipped lunch and came back for an early dinner. The food is very good, the dinner menu is in three sections. Starters, 'Large' and 'Larger', unfortunately when we were given the menu...we weren't told that 'Large' is actually an entree. The yellow fin tuna was good but not enough, or intended, to be a main meal. The apple pie with ice cream for dessert was also very good but I still left disappointed and hungry. The waitress apologised and I realise that mistakes happen but I still don't understand why the entrees are listed as 'Large'.More

Lovely meal!lovely coffee!

Their coffee is the best in the town:)They use Bon soy for soy milk which is amazing!!not many places spend money for soy and Almond milk like this place in PD unfortunately.organic coffee bean taste so good:) Lizzy's breaky and lunch, dinner is full of...love.chocolate cake is sensational:)/ Nice friendly stuff Always welcome us with best smile!! Afternoon undelight

Expensive - my inlaws visited for a bit of afternoon tea - food was ordinary- $38 for a piece of cake, a ice coffee (no cream) , a thickshake that came out as a milkshake so then had to pay an extra fee for added...icecream...service was adequate but not engaging - charged an extra $1.50 to sit outside on their tables & chairs... all in all a very ordinary undelight afternoon experienceMore

Lovely food - service inconsistent

We dropped in here for breakfast on our way to Cairns. The feel of the place was nice and the food was really good. The staff who served us at our table were really friendly, but the older lady with red hair who took my...order was miserable. Best coffee in PD!

Came for breakfast - all the food was good and fresh. They offer a one egg breakfast which is just right after all the holiday eating. Coffee was excellent, wish we found it sooner!
