I've been going to Nakashima for a few years. I've always found it a pleasant place to go. The food has remained good yet arguably expensive. I ate there tonight though and the restaurant, which has challenges drawing customers mid-week, put in place a new surcharge on all credit card transactions of 3%. This detracts from the overall experience when... More

I ordered a sushi and sashimi combination. Very nice variety of fishes, great to share if you are not a complete sushi fanatic like me. Good value for money and service despite of a very humble decoration. Hi

Our family of 4 ate dinner here in the outside but enclosed dining area. The food was average and the menu was limited. We ordered the sushi and sashimi but were unsure what specifically we received as the waitress spoke limited English and did not give us any choices on the meal. The kids liked the chicken teriyaki.

Very low key restaurant, which has nothing to do with authentic Japanese cuisine. We ordered Teriyaki squid, tempura, sukiyaki and edomame. Sukuyaki and squid were absolutely the same taste: mix of soy souse with a lot of sugar and starch. Tempura was unprofessionally cut of pumpkin (1piece) and eggplant (1 piece), plus two tasteless frozen prawns; the batter was thick... More

Great food, good price! Chicken cutlet here is better than that in Tokyo. Great Japanese staff too.

Walking by we noticed that Nakashima was always packed so we decidet to also eat here one evening. Well we came here twice. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. You can't expect top class Japanese food for this price but it was so good that we came back. If you come early you also get sake free... More

This restaurant may have a charming setting in a little alleyway, but the food is anything but delightful. I was looking for the delicious freshness that good Japanese food can offer, and a bit of respite from the Sydney summer heat. I got neither. The plate of sushi that I ordered was meagre, inexpertly sliced and of very poor quality.... More

My wife had been here before. We were on our way to The Stone Roses concert at the Opera House and with the chaotic travel mess that was Sydney last night, we opted for something quick and easy. The entrees were delicious and the mains were sublime. I'm just really going to have to update my chopsticks skills The restaurant... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends of our son. It was great for lunch. We both had bento boxes-mine was pork and my wife's was chicken teriyaki. They were tasty as were the accompaniments-the miso soup, salmon sushi, rice etc. great value, especially as it's in the Rocks.

I first stumbled on this place about 5 years ago and introduced many friends to it. They all loved it - cheap as chips, fresh, simple and hidden. In the past 2 visits things have deteriorated. Last visit was stringy sashimi that was barely chewable. We gave it another shot today. A shrunken menu, chewable but very thick slabs of... More
