Dropped in for a beer and a tapa for it was too early for a proper lunch. We had the baked satay eggplant and the chicken wings - both were good. The fifty lashes ale was excellent!

Ate here with a group. Historically and construction-wise this is an interesting location. The history and the ambiance out-weighed the food. My wife and I had the lamb shank. Served rather cold it was tough and tasteless. Others seemed to accept their food - but no one was excited with the restaurant. Perhaps this is a spot for drinks and... More

If you only visit one of the pubs while you are in Sydney make it The Hero of Waterloo. This historic pub has a fascinating history and if you ask the bartender, he will show you the basement where unsuspecting drunk patrons were dropped through a trap door and then sent out through the tunnel to wake up on a... Anyone who knows this pub intimately knows the "little" doorman. He likes to stop tall people from coming into the bar. Never in my life have i ever been subject to such a negative reception. Despite having consumed only two drinks i was accused of being drunk. Shame on you !!

I live in Sydney and work near the Rocks. It's great to be able to pop to a classic pub that is pretty unchanged from its opening, some 100 or more years ago. The Hero is one of those pubs. Great sandstone facade, set in lovely old streets with blooming jasmine vines and flowering jacaranda trees everywhere-the atmosphere as you... More

I had heard so much about this restaurant, but it did not live up to expectations. The food was barely average and the service was slow. We started with mushroom soup, which was good, but only tepid. The drinks weren't served until after the soup course. I ordered the chicken, which was very overcooked, but the vegetables were good. The... More

This restaurant has the three B's as we say in Costa Rica: bonito, bueno, and barato (pretty, good, and inexpensive). The setting is a charming stone-walled old house, the food is surprisingly creative for pub food, and the prices are very good. I had a delicious lamb risotto. The only negative is that we had to go up to the... More

Great little pub on the outskirts of The Rocks. Great food, good beer. A good reason why the oldie locals were here. Great find in the middle of Sydney.

We had our farewell dinner. The soup came promptly as well as the main course. The lamb dish was very good. We had a private room so it was more quiet as there was a pub downstairs and it was loud as you went to that floor. If you do not like the loud noise, you may have to consider... More

Great atmosphere and good pub. Very friendly. Live music on Sunday nights. Definitely worth a visit.
