The ambience. The impeccable service. Most importantly, the authentic Vietnamese FOOD and the great wine that came with our eight-course dinner! What is there not to rave about this place? Must try when in Sydney. Period.

Visited Red Lantern with a colleague for a mid week dinner. I went against my normal instincts, ordered the set banquet and was really pleasantly surprised. All the dishes were good and quite different from each other. Some are not traditional Vietnamese flavours but all were really tasty and the menu worked overall. The staff were very good and even... As far as my daughter and I are concerned this place is an absolute must when visiting Sydney. It is not exactly cheap [Im an aged pensioner] but the anticipation and [in my case] saving up for is definitely worth it.

We booked a table for 8 at 8:30. Arrived on time and only waited a couple of minutes for our table. Excellent attention from wait staff. We opted for one of the set meals. (Saigon) All of the dishes were divine. My favourite was the calamari. The wine list was good and we enjoyed both reds and whites.

My wife and I came from Melbourne to eat here and we were left extremely disappointed. We've dined at many Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne so we had high expectations. We expected Luke Nguyen to elevate Vietnamese food like what George Colomburus did with Greek food - more modernised, more flavour. Unfortunately, we felt like it didn't meet our expectations. The... Searched for Asian restaurants online near our hotel and picked this one. Great service, wonderful food and adequate but expensive wine list

My wife and I had dinner here on Sunday for Mother's Day. We had the first booking at 6pm. We were greeted very nicely by staff as soon as we walked in. We were taken to our table quickly. Our waitress was fantastic, she actually had checked our booking details and knew that my wife had allergies and made us... More

Came here for our anniversary, the place was perfect. We had the Saigon Scrumptious tasting menu, everything we ate was delicious and there was so much! Left feeling very full and satisfied.

A group of 4 of us came to Red Lantern due to the hype surrounding Luke Nguyen's restaurant. Whilst the atmosphere and wait staff were fantastic we were left kind of disappointed with the food we ordered. Whether our expectation of the food to be high, or it was just an off night for the chefs, the taste/flavours of our... More

Took my girlfriend for her birthday and she was very impressed. Good vibe and dimly lit. We ordered the banquet and were so full, so many meals! You won't get any standard meals here, every meal is designed to the T and there was nothing we didn't love. Note to call and book ahead of you're vegetarian or vegan and... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
