I am so impressed. Loved this place. Hubby had Pork Knuckle and said it was the BEST. He hasn't stopped talking about the crackling. I had the chicken schnitzel and based on previous experiences elsewhere, ditched the roesti for the chunky chips, but after trying my husband's, I really wish I hadn't. Service was great too. Decent wines to choose... More

Came to Essen for a quick bite last night (27th March) with a friend. We both ordered the Schnitzel, which was nice. When we went to pay the bill we noticed that we had been charged $6 for the two aioli's we had ordered. Besides the fact that $3 is a ridiculous price for aioli, nowhere on the menu does... More

What has happened to the Pork knuckle... it use to be pickled and really nice... now its baked in the oven and dry. They ran out of pork belly on the mixed meat platter. the service is next to nothing.. having eaten here before and enjoying it, to now not sure if I want to go back. They need a... More

The restaurant itself is great, nice ambiance provided by a German decor, brought me right back to the Black Forest in Germany. Authentic German food prepared by chefs from Germany (waiting staff from German origin too). Real no-nonsense food, what you order is what you get: simple and delicious. Prepare for long waiting times when you dine in the evening,... More

We enjoyed our dinner here so much we ate here twice in one week. Delicious German food was a nice change from the many Pubs and Asian restaurants in the area. The portions are generous, which keeps my hubby happy. The restaurant is a good size and not noisy. The table aren't crowded together and you can enjoy a nice... More

This place has some great food that takes me back to the days of mums cooking. We made the mistake of ordering starters, don't get me wrong they were very nice we were just not prepared for the huge platter that was going to follow. The Pretzel was very nice, hot and came with butter. The cheesy garlic bread was... More

Our first time here a couple yrs ago was much better. Did they change management? Came at lunchtime right when doors were opened, for a belated Valentine's Day lunch (day after Valentine's Day) last week. Disappointing trip. I am not racist as I am Asian. But some mainland chinese customer was served first when it opened & ordered pork knuckles... More

I wasn't blown away by my experience but I can't overly criticise this resturant either. The food was priced similarly to other German resturants I have been to and the service was prompt. The food was also enjoyable but the experience was lacking something. I can't put my finger on it. I am confident you will enjoy your meal but... More

Food was awful - schnitzels thrown in the deep fryer for far too long - burned, dry and completely inedible! Service slow and ponderous. Rosti appeared to be last night's cabbage slops stuck together with flour and fried. Nothing good about this place, not even the beer!

The food here is marvellous. I've had schnitzels with a variety of sauces and I've had the pork belly which is superb. The pork knuckle is a challenge though, tender meat but such a plateful! The rosti is always a favourite as a side as is the garlic bread and the hot pretzels. This place is one of our favourite... More
