After a few years of coming here sporadically I thought I'd finally leave a review. It's testament to a place like that, and of this size, that they've kept their doors open for so long. It's not hard to realize why. The enchantingly 'other world' interior means even a regular walk up the stairs is like walking into another world.... More

This place is really good for a cheap, easy, quick meal. The ordering on the screen was very easy and straight forward with pictures to match the menu items. The food came sporadically and very quickly, which was nice to spread out the different dishes. The sushi and sashimi was delicious, as was everything else.

Really enjoyed dining at this place. Plenty of booth seating, computerised order system which lets you order at will & dangerously add more! Friendly & efficient service and delicious food. I always enjoy good sushi & sashimi but I love the various skewers even more here. Yakitori, pork, beef & scampi are some of my favourites. I also love their... More

The food is shockingly bad, half the dishes we ordered were sent back as they were inedible. all of the tempura was cooked in oil that was clearly not hot enough and had been absorbed resulting in a mouthful of fry oil with each bite. The sashimi platter was not fresh and smelled, the prawns were not cleaned, and after... More

If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant with a nice atmosphere and drinks, i think this place is the one. Customer service was good and sushi was nice and fresh. You also have variety choices for drinks. However you might have the limited time to stay there without a booking. Waitress sometimes ask you if you can finish your... More

Having ate at Izakaya Den in Melbourne, this is quite a disappointing experience for me, in terms of the quality of the food. Though the service is excellent but the quality of the sashimi could have been more fresh. Even the tempura is not deep fried the correct way. We ended up not finishing what we have ordered. Tha Wagyu... More

I lived in Japan for 2 years and travelled throughout the country in that time. Wagaya is probably my favorite izakaya outside Japan! I go here once every couple months or so. Parking in nearby Market City is cheap, as is the train + light rail if to go on Sunday. Families with prams beware, their are stairs to get... More

The restaurant is now owned by Chinese who have little idea of serving food hot ♨. I sent back my Hamburg 2x and still cold

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
