This is such an interesting mix of Moorish and Spanish fine dining with a focus on the rotisserie and dishes from a wood-oven. It's a lively atmosphere with significant drama, fed from the action in the kitchen. I love everything about Mercado from the food...More

Went to Mercado with my family for my birthday. Really enjoyed the kingfish tartare, grilled octopus (OMG this was my favourite!) and 1kg lamb shoulder. Service was excellent and I loved the linen napkins. Serving sizes were quite small, so perhaps should have gone with...More

A wonderful meal at Mercado with friends. Every choice was a winner and in a really nice dining room. It was a shame that the restaurant wasn't very busy, but in fairness, we were eating a little earlier than I normally do. The ravioli in...More

A group of eight of us ate here recently ordering the $80 per head banquet menu which we thoroughly enjoyed. While two of every dish came to the table only one dish of the roast lamb arrived however the waitress did not tell us that...More

My father and I attended Mercado for dinner on a rainy October night. Our wine order was forgotten and we had to remind the waitress. She finally brought it over and one of the glasses of wine was oxidized. We asked about it and it...More

Found this place randomly. Food was very well presented and tasty. Service was spot on. One feedback would be the overuse of cream sauces or dressings in all the dishes. The flavors were perfect as it was and so much cream is unnecessary!

We regularly go to Mercado when attending the Brandenburg Orchestra concerts which are held in the Recital Hall just across the Lane because the food is good and they get you out in time to attend the concerts which generally start at 7.00pm. We generally...More

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with
energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise
buildings and after-work drink places, high-end
shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens

Located in Sydney’s CBD and housed in the historic 350 George Street building, Mercado is at the gateway of the city’s bustling and beautiful European-style Angel Place. We work with many small farmers, growers and producers to source the finest ingredients. These tireless people work as we do with the love and care for producing only the best. Just like in a market place our menu changes from week to week. Our Spanish/Moorish influenced menu is designed to share and is complemented by our Spanish-wine list. Mercado is about the revival of the old mixed with the new. Chef, Jason Dean’s passion for food derives directly from a love of reviving forgotten kitchen skills. Through whole animal butchery, meat curing, bread baking & preserving we aim to continue these traditions by hand with a great respect to the way cooking was and how we can use each method in the modern kitchen.
