Been there a few time and the food quality is always of high standard. Staff are friendly and polite. Kids love and enjoy the food.

It was our fifth night in Canberra, so we all felt like Japanese for dinner after eating out for several days. We turned up on a Monday night with eight of us and were able to get a table. We ordered the sushi and sashimi platter for four and a few extra rolls and a couple of other dishes like... More

Delicious lunch that reminded me so much of meals I have had in Tokyo many years ago. Variety and quality is just right and presentation delightful. Decor and seating is modest but comfortable, and again makes you feel you could be in Japan. Service was friendly and efficient. Only thing to be aware of, if lunching, is that kitchen closes... This was a favourite during our uni days, so a recent visit to Canberra meant a meal at Iori. The vibe here feels different since our last visit a few years ago... portions seemed smaller, service was nothing to write home about, and the price has markedly gone up. That said, you'd be at a loss to find Japanese food... More

Cooked by real Japanese chefs with only an exception of waitresses dressed in kimonos which were Caucasian and mixed race speaking Japanese. And the other thing is that make sure you get a booking before coming to this place as its a squished for room. If you want authentic real Japanese food, come here. Its also next to the bus... More

This may be a small and intimate restaurant but it packs a wallop for the food it serves Chef Mamoru clearly understands the balance of taste in his dishes

We got what we wanted. Plain and simple Japanese. Sushi and sashimi, tempura, sake. There was nothing wrong with it. The staff was a bit hit and miss. Struggled to get attention a couple of times, and one time they had to send someone else to take our drinks order. Oh, and it cost a bit for all that.

The service staff was really helpful and kind, asking about the experience of the meal and providing additional assistance. The food had pretty aesthetics and tasted really good. Despite the long wait, probably due to a Saturday dinner, it was worth it. The sauces the accompanied the beef and tonkatsu were unique and really complemented the meat.

We regularly went to Iori when we lived in Canberra until 10 years ago. Visiting recently for a week we were happy to see that it was still operating and basically unchanged. We walked in without a booking at 12 midday when it opened and 10 minutes later most tables were occupied. The décor is not fancy but the staff... More
