After visiting some friends at Praia dos Carneiros, we went for a late lunch to the nearby Bora Bora restaurant which, we were told, was located in a very attractive setting, including a very large natural swimming pool (piscina). We were flabbergasted when parking attendants...demanded a fee of R$20 (about $5) for EACH person in our vehicles. We were sorely tempted to leave but we were hungry and there were no readily available alternatives. The restaurant lived up to its reputation in terms of a well-maintained, lush tropical vegetation as well as its beautiful beach and bay setting. Strikingly, the restaurant which features large attractive huts, under which at least 300 tables are located and were, when we arrived, almost fully occupied, proved to be good. We were initially afraid that such a large restaurant would be a factory-type enterprise, like a McDonald-by-the-sea. Fortunately our fears were mostly dispelled: service was average (there was definitely a large staff taking care of customers) and fairly quick. There was a large selection of well-mixed cocktails; food was typical Brazilian fare with a strong focus on seafood (platters and stews of fish, calamari, shrimp, mussels...) with rice and farofa, although chicken and beef plates were also available. Portions were large and our selections very tasty, indeed. Prices were on the high side, given the quality of the food and proximity to a beautiful environment. Ratings could, and should be, a full five star, were it not for the disgraceful ripoff that awaits each visitor at the site entrance. This should remain a major stain on the reputation of this restaurant, as long as management maintains this money-grubbing approach.More

The only good thing about this place is its location next to the beach. As to the rest, you pay high prices for average food and a terrible service. It’s mostly for tourist groups that wouldn’t look for other options.

The beach was interesting. Go early and the tide is low and you can walk far out into the water and it’s not deep. In the afternoon the tide come up and the beach is gone. You can still enjoy the water. The snorkeling is...not worth it, but the water is clean. For the service of the restaurant, it was quite bad. Extremely slow and it seemed like the waiter was sleepwalking. Food was ok, not bad, but not good. Expensive for Brazil and what you get. There’s a R$20 per person charge to enter. Kids are not charged.More

Horrible experience - My girlfriend and I drove to Praia dos Carneiros from Porto de Galinhas and decided to park the car in the Bora Bora Restaurant, they do have some good infrastructure for parking (for 20 BRL per person), and they give you a...pass where you have access to the facilities (restaurant and bathroom). We sat at one of the tables close to the beach, which by the way is beautiful indeed, and up until then our experience was quite pleasant, even though there was a lot of people there. In the restaurant, they also have some loud speakers where I wished they were playing music, but many times the employees of the restaurant would speak on the speakers about different sales, promotions, etc, which obviously bothered the whole "relaxing experience" piece. As a customer, I just want to sit by the beach and have a nice meal without having to hear "last call for product x, promotion y, etc". The waiter came to take our order and we order 2 drinks and some food, and this is where the problems started. First of all, our drinks took 30 minutes to come (2 coconut waters...), and after finally bringing the drinks, we waited another 20 minutes and the food hadn't come yet. That's when I called the waiter attention and let him know we'd been waiting over 50 minutes for the food we ordered. He said he was going to check and then disappeared for another 10 minutes. Finally, we saw him coming towards us with some food, but it wasn't OUR food. At that point we had already waited for over 1 hour and we were hungry and frustrated. I asked the waiter (again) if the food was coming, and he looked confused and tried to put in our table some other food order that wasn't what we asked. He then left and came back for a third time (holding no food), and saying that unfortunately there was a mistake and they wouldn't be able to process our order AT ALL because the food was not available. After all of that wait, we were upset, hungry, and frustrated (with reason), so we asked for the bill, and this is where we felt really disrespected as customers. We asked for the bill so we could get out of the place as soon as possible, and the waiter instead of just getting us the bill so we could be on our way, he went to 3 different tables to deliver/pick up food. When he finally gave us the bill I went to the cashier myself to pay for it, to avoid more waiting. I will be going back to Praia dos Carneiros but not to this restaurant in particular (just for the parking which is the only thing that work out well).More

Bora Bora was indicated trough the internet and also by the gas station professional. Place very well organized and clean. You have to pay to get in US$5 and stayed at restaurants area. But for my surprise there is no place at the beach in...front of the restaurant. You have to leave the Bora Bora area to reach the beach and also walk a little bit to right in order to find a very beautiful beach place. At that place you can find a hawk Ednaldo very kind and nice professional. Very cold Brahma for US$1.5. In fact Bora Bora has a nice food (shrimp for 2 US$40, Heineken long neck US$3) but that place is a kind of support area for people that want take a boat to do some tour trough the reefs. Next time I will try Beijupira restaurante besides Bora Bora and just in front the beach. Seems to have a very nice environment.More

It is a beach club that charges you R$20 for a "VIP" area with nothing special. It's specialized to receive big groups of tourist coming from boats. In the speakers they call out this groups when boats are ready to go... It's too loud and...annoying. It's too expensive and service is not as good.More

My husband and I visited Bora Bora. I was a little uncertain after reading the comments on Trip Advisor, but we enjoyed our day! This place is definitely geared toward high volumes of tourists, so you need to understand this from the beginning. When we...arrived, we were presented with three options to sit during the day. One section had plastic furniture and one paid for food and drink upon consumption. The second section had nicer furniture with a less crowded feel and cost R$20 per person plus food and drink bought on consumption. The third section had the sun beds where a certain amount of food and drink was included, and the price was significantly higher. This could be a good option if you are with a group. Upon choosing our location, our server suggested that we pre-reserve our lunch entree. I thought this was a little odd to order lunch at 10:00, but the lunch appeared upon our request within 15 minutes after we returned from our morning beach walk. We ordered a fish dish with two sides for two people. It was good, but it was nothing overly fancy. We spent the morning walking on the beach and exploring the reef during low tide. When moving to the beach, there were many people trying to sell us boat trip. We were offered at least six trips by different people, but they were all respectful after we declined their offer. We know intermediate Portuguese, so it was no problem. It could be a little intimidating if you can’t speak the local language, but don’t let that keep you away! We didn’t end up purchasing a boat trip. Instead, we decided to walk the beach and reef. One needs shoes to walk on the reef due to the sharp edges. My aqua socks worked great, but almost everyone manages with flip flops. The beach to the south of the restaurant is absolutely stunning!!! I have read that many think this is one of the top beaches in Brasil, and I think this could be true. My suggestion would be to enjoy the environment and skip the touristy boat trip!More

In a quick afternoon at Carneiro's Beach, I chose this place due some recommendations of some local people. But I did not have a good experience. The problem is not the high prices they charge, but the "tourist exploration" approach that they adopts. They charge...you for everything. If you want to sit in a cushioned chair, you pay. Even if your dother wants to take a photo in front of a wall-painting, you should pay too. They charge high prices and create expectations for something they are not able to deliver: high quality services. The space is crowded, the environment is not confortable, the service is untrained, the attendants keep chatting while you are trying to ask them, the food quality and presentation are both bad. Nothing even close of the expectations. The positive point is the wonderful beach view, but you don't need to go to Bora Bora to enjoy this paradisiac landscape!More

The beach at Bora Bora was beautiful. One of my favorite things about it, is that you can have your meal without people trying to sell things to you from the beach. It was fun to do an excursion from here and have a table...to come back to. We were here during the holidays and it was very busy. Food and drinks take a lot of time to come to you, but when they do, they are delicious. Sometimes the servers, I feel, are very overwhelmed by the amount of tables they are serving. Prices were okay, the view was GREAT and despite the wait, the service was good too. You could also leave your bags at your table without the worry of someone stealing them. I would recommend visiting if you are in the area, it was even worth the 1 hour drive for us!More
