Absolutely loved our visits to this wonderful pub last week. 3 meals, all of which were incredibly tasty…well cooked, presented, served and very good value. The staff are all friendly and helpful. A pub as it should be…welcoming, atmospheric, good food, great beers and lovely...regulars happy to chat.More

Really good food. Quality pub food - restaurant level. Nice garden. But very popular and small car park. You need to book and the telephone is not answered - took several attempts.

The Three Horseshoes boasts one of the best pub gardens I have ever been too. It is a beautiful rose garden overlooking the South Downs which offer a spectacular backdrop, added with the charm of chickens free roaming the garden. The lunch we ordered was...also good, a plougmans, one cheese and ham and one stilton. Very filling and very tasty. The one snag was the water. This is self-service from a tap in the garden, served with plastic cups (not the most environmentally friendly) and the water is fairly warm (no ice is offered). I don't mind the self service bit, but feel the a glass, with an ice bucket and lemon slices avaliable would be nicer :) Would definitely return though.More

Had lunch in the garden on a moderately sunny day. The view is gorgeous! The staff and food I could not fault. The range and quality of real ales is excellent. I don’t understand the negative reviews on here. Quite simply one of my top...10 pubs anywhere.More

Visited last night. Well organised, good service, good food, good beer and beautiful location and views up onto the South Downs. Plenty of outside seating with cover if the weather is not so good.

The food was nice but a lot of the other patrons are not overly keen on children, which was made apparent from their comments and general look of disgust. Such as shame as the views are beautiful.

Lovely garden and views spoilt by the flat coke and disappointing ploughman's lunch - didn't think anyone could go wrong with a ploughman's!

When the sun is shining, this is absolutely one of the best places on the South Downs to have lunch and a smashing pint of proper bitter. (Crop Circle)! The pub garden is really delightful, with wonderful views over the Downs, and plenty of space....There are different kinds of fancy chickens happily roaming about on the lawn and under the trees and bushes, and on this occasion, one of the hens was accompanied by her chicks. Lovely! Although there is not a specifically vegan option on the menu, this is my second visit, where I asked if I could have a salad as my main, and the marvellous chef went out of his way to put together a substatial, varied, and extremely tasty one for me. What a delight! A big thanks to him. If ever our mountain bike rides come even slightly close to Elsted, we make a point of visiting this garden of Eden.More

The only thing that saves this pub is the view and the waiting staff. The food is mediocre and the treatment we recieved from the snippy front staff was completely baffling, but I've seen on here that others experienced the same thing. Will not be...returning. Far nicer places to go where you actually feel welcome.More

We had a wonderful lunch in the garden with views over the Sussex Downs. The food was excellent and the staff very welcoming and friendly. It is an English country pub at its best.
