We stop here fairly regularly for lunch after walking at Linacre reservoirs. The food and drink is reliably good. It's dog friendly and there's a decent play area for the kids. I recommend the fish finger sandwich and a pint of brew dog pink IPA if that sort of thing takes your fancy!

Recently called in for lunch, it was quite busy too. Everything was really great. Met by a friendly barman who took our drinks order. Took a seat in the bar and the Maitre d' came over. He warmly greeted us, then gave us the menu explaining about the specials, type of soup, etc. This guy was brilliant! Funny, witty and... More

Cheers for the great review and the red face. (blushing like anything) Of course chefs being the comedians they are reckoned I wrote this review myself. Obviously I had nothing to do with it. Its always great when the hard work put into making a meal enjoyable and memorable gets noticed. The artichoke soup sold out pretty quickly and no... More

Visited with a large group, pre ordered, service friendly, pleasant ambience, good range of drinks, a pleasant nite. However portion control appears to assume the clientele comprise, super models and dieters, the quality of food was ok just not enough of it and not inexpensive. Try it by all means but if you are of average or higher appetite have... More

Thank you for your review. Portion size is the most difficult thing to keep everybody happy about. Some folks reckon too big, some reckon too small. I'm sorry if you felt that our portion sizes were on the small side for you. I am pleased however you enjoyed your food. Tim T More

We went here last Friday. I don't like to leave negative reviews but for the price being charged I felt on this night the food just wasn't acceptable. My wife ordered the soup. It was ok but a little bland. I believe she had the sea bass for the main, which was the best dish. I had gammon egg and... More

Thank you for your review. Its always disappointing when we get poor feed back about our food. I'm sorry you felt your gammon dish was below par. I wish that when people have an issue with a dish they would let us fix it for them before I read about it on social media. I want people leaving here happy.... More

We had tea here last night and from start to finish were made to feel very welcome. The menu is fairly small and I am a veggie who doesn't like mushrooms so this left me a bit stumped but the waitress said the chef could make me something - what did I fancy - I ended up with a beautiful... More

Thank you Pops69 for your review. I'm really pleased that our chef managed to make you a dish you enjoyed eating. We are always happy to oblige where we can. When you read Cod Fish Finger sandwich in soft bread sub, it conjours up ideas of lightly battered cod pieces fried to a golden brown colour, sadly what I got was an 8 inch long piece of cod in a thick well done dense batter, this was placed on the soft bread roll and cut in half at a jaunty... Thanks for your review. A bit of a mixed bag this one. Sorry if your sandwiches were not to your liking. Just to reassure you we don't use frozen fish. Yes we leave the skin on. We are always happy to remove the skin if asked. I'm happy you enjoyed your drinks and we looked after you well. Tim T More

The staff were pleasant and helpful, taking in to account, not the best time to judge. The buffet was timely and very nice. Will visit again under better circumstances

Great outdoor area for a lunchtime time sandwich in the sun, but the main meals are under portioned and not really up to much. I don't mind paying for quality food, but on the occasion I ate here it wasn't great food and the pub doesn't have a particularly warm and welcome feel

I am always disappointed when we don't hit the spot. I'm pleased you enjoyed our outdoor space. Pricing is the most difficult area because its so subjective. I have always been very proud of the food here and the welcome. I apologise if your experience wasn't up to our usual standard. Tim T More
