Was there on Tuesday evening. The staff are really friendly. It's really great to see people pop in with the dogs and it's not frowned at. The cheese balls was great and service very attentive but not over kill. To think I have a little gem like this on my front stoep.

I have twice previously ordered the beef and ale pie - delicious. Yesterday (Wednesday 8 Feb) I again ordered it. It turned out to be a tomato pie with a little beef. It was more than sub-standard. The waiter however was excellent. How very, very disappointing for a lunch we had looked forward to.

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback. I will personally investigate with our kitchen as we have not changed our recipe so our pie should be just as delicious as before! I'm sorry you had a disappointing meall, please accept our apologies. Best wishes, Olivia More

A lovely venue, inside and out, engaged owners and friendly staff. What more could you want? They have a large selection of potables behind the bar and often some very tempting specials. It's also worth keeping an eye on their FB page as exciting events come around with happy frequency! My only quibble is that the portions of some items... More

Nice ambiance. A very relaxed atmosphere as you can sit near the fireplace to enjoy the comfort food. Went there twice already...

We stumbled across this place by accident. It is in a large house with numerous rooms to the restaurant. The food on the daily offers menu was good price and nice. Staff were all nice and friendly. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but it is a perfectly reasonable place to eat if staying close by.

Observatory's gem has been revamped by new owners and it is even better than before. Owner Olivia is gracious and will definitely get my support over any franchise or boring fly NY night operation. Waiting Shanon was super and our doggie was treated with as much respect as we were. Great aoli, awesome Hibiscus cider and gluten free menu options... More

A Touch of Madness has new owners, Olivia and Richard, who have managed to capture the quirky Bohemian feel and mixed their offering with a great mix of beers and global range of food. Still exploring the wine list to find something that suits.

This is great addition to the neighbourhood of Observatory. The food is hearty and wholesome, the beverage selection is excellent and the vibe is great. The owners are doing a great job at having events there that bring people into the building - from poetry evenings, silent discos, a DJ night, business owners networking lunches etc... This establishment will resume... More

Description
This quirky & eclectic bar & restaurant is set in a unique Victorian house, in the center of bohemian Observatory in Cape Town. We offer a wide range of local craft beers and a good selection of wine by the glass. We serve delicious lunch and dinner - influenced by global street-food. Sip on a cappuccino in our sunny breakfast room, or enjoy a local craft beer with a burger on our veranda in the evening. Share a bottle of wine with friends in our intimate, leafy courtyard. If it's cold out, sit in a comfy armchair and relax by one of our two fireplaces with red wine and a book. We are passionate about environmental sustainability and offer vegetarian and vegan options.
