A roaring fire and warm welcome greeted us on a horrible, wet night. We were given a choice of tables which were spaced apart and our wet coats were hung up for us. We have been coming to the Pheasant for 35 years now and...never had a bad meal, tonight was no exception, it was delicious. My husband had the bacon wrapped chicken in a roll with salad and chips and I had the pork on a sweet potato mash with vegetables and a side of chips. Both were beautifully presented and so tasty. We hadn't had a starter as we both wanted a dessert and knew we couldn't eat both! My husband had the rice pudding and I had the sticky toffee pudding, again, both were delicious. All health and safety issues were addressed and we felt very safe there. The owner and staff were friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend a meal here and wet certainly be back before long.More

Excellent food, service was brilliant and even though the way of the world at the minute the atmosphere is still brilliant. Highly recommended if you are looking for quality food with excellent service.

This was our first night out since lockdown and couldn’t have chosen a better place to go. The food was exceptional and the staff really friendly and attentive. Although Covid procedures were all in place It felt like a normal evening with a relaxing atmosphere....Our first visit here but definitely not our last.More

Went for a meal on Wednesday 12 August and had the most wonderful evening. The food was definitely the best I have had in a long time. I have never been to a restaurant that I could have chosen anything off the menu and thoroughly...enjoyed it, but here at The Pheasant I was spoilt for choice. I had the brie to start with which was cooked to perfection and then fillet steak to follow, served the way I like it with lightly battered onion rings and the most wonderful homemade chips. The steak itself was truly amazing. I wish I had room for a pudding. I wish I could give 10 stars because The Pheasant truly deserves them. If you go for a meal you will not be disappointed.More

Little touches elevated the Pheasant in my eyes to something special. My husband's battered haggis starter was preyed upon by the rest of us after his innocent "would you like to try it?" It was so yummy; creamy and mild - quite different (as you'd...expect) from the bitter, dry, boiled offering we had tried from Sainsbury's during the lockdown! The other meals also went down very well, with locally sourced beef, zingy salmon and amazing superfood-packed salads. There was something magical about the chips too; beautiful texture and flavour. My daughters were also in heaven with the amazing puds - fresh waffles and thunder & lightning ice-cream. If you haven't tried the latter you really must give it a go. Full marks to the Pheasant for the food, the friendly & attentive service and for the scrupulous attention to detail with Covid precautions. We are very happy customers. The icing on the cake? We only had a minute to walk to the cute Airbnb they run in the attached cottage, with beautiful views over the countryside. What more could we ask?More

Fabulous food, locally sourced were possible. My husband had the best steak he’d had in a long time. Puddings are delicious. All home made. All 4 of us enjoyed everything we had, couldn’t fault a thing. We highly recommend a visit to this warm, friendly...inn. Staff were great and very welcoming.More

A lovely warm welcome and roaring open fire met us on a wet, cold, windy night. A great choice of dishes including an extensive specials board. My husband's steak was melt in the mouth, my stuffed loin of pork was delicious. All in all another...great meal and a lovely night out. Thank you, we'll definitely be back.More

We are new to the area and trying different venues . The pheasant was. Excellent in every way . Peter and Kate are so friendly and welcoming . We had a table by the roaring fire .. The Sunday lunch menu was cream of mushroom...soup or chicken lover pate. They were both superb . We all had the roast beef or there was lamb with all the trimmings. The sweets were raspberry cheese cake or pecan pie and ice cream . Never tasted a more scrumptious pecan pie just full of nuts . We then finished with a cafetière of coffee with cream and hot milk. There was a good choice of wines. We had a red Australian Shiraz such good value We will certainly return fantastic value for money The whole restaurant is cosy and such a homely atmosphere.More
