Beautiful pub. Lovely decor. Children treated really well, crayons etc. we had 2 lovely steaks for under £15 and cooked really well. Lovely range of beer on draught and in the centre of he village.

We have stayed in wooler for a few years and always have a meal here and never disappoints. If you want good hearty pub grub this is the place. Good size portions and very friendly staff can't fault it.

his well sited accommodation is no more in business. Apparently the managers retired when the rent was raised. Pity as it has a good position. however I hear the interior was run down.

Popped inn to book a table to be told no food available! Not dog friendly. Disappointing as looking forward to visiting this unique pub while staying in the area

We called in here at lunch time and had the pie of the day (it was Steak and Ale) which was very nice indeed with plenty of delicious filling. The pastry was a little hard around the edges, but it was a genuine home-made pie. There’s a choice of home-made chips or you can have potatoes and veg. There’s also... More

My husband visited this pub about fifteen years ago and loved it, he said the food was delicious so he was looking forward to going again. However since then the food has deteriorated. He had the roast beef dinner which was very average. The beef was nice and tender but the roast potatoes were soft, not crispy the vegetables okay... More

Stopped for supper attracted by the attractive thatched pub in Etal, since found out it is owned by the local large country estate. The service was very friendly and tried hard but the sticky tables and menu that dated from the 80s rather let it down. The food was OK and clearly freshly prepared but I think it needs to... More

Food is traditional, beer is excellent and the place is friendly and clean. A great hostel for the weary traveller and local alike.
